Hi All,

I was wondering if any of you guys have had the opportunity to be ridden around at the back of the Ducati two seater moto-gp bike by Randy Mimola? Is it the latest Spec MotoGP bike or some 5 year old bike with considerably less horse-power?

The reason I ask is that like every year Ducati are offering rides as a pillion ahead of the Silverstone MotoGP and some one have offered me their paddock pass at 50% off which will me give the opportunity to be a pillion for a single lap around the circuit.

I am not sure if it will be money well spent since I am not sure if the bike would be latest spec in which case the acceleration, speed, etc would be brutal and well worth of an experience - other wise the Panigale is brutal enough!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice.

Do you really think that any year of a true MotoGP bike isn't going to put the Pani to shame? Really?

Not only is it the bike, it's also the pilot, who is faster than you'll ever be in your life.

You would consider all options when your £2.5K is on the line!

According to Troy Corser, you could win a WSBK championship 4 years ago on the current BMW HP4. Rossi said last years R1 is as fast as a MotoGP bike from 4 years ago.. Goes to show there is a 5 year gap sort of thing going on.

Other than that, I doubt Randy will be able to push it to its limits with a pillion on board, more weight etc etc..

The Panigale still has an eye watering accelration with one rider on, I am just wondering, how Randy will top that with two people on board?

In one of his briefings to the Australian V8 driver, he said if we get a good exit out of the corner we can reach 300 Kph on the straights otherwise 270 kph is normal.

Worth it

I'm really not trying to be funny or disrespectful at all, but are you serious. It does not matter if the specs are from 8 years ago"¦.it is a motogp prototype bike. And we are talking about Randy Mamola!!!!
I personally would not compare my 1199 Panigale with a motogp prototype bike ridden by Randy Mamola!! I was there this past weekend and he was still lifting the front end coming out of turn #9.
I did a two-up ride with a former racer on a 2012 BMW, I could barely hang on to the bars mounted on the tank. It would be worth it!!!

I watched him give the 2-up rides at Indy. He pushes plenty. It ain't worth 2.5K though. That's ridiculous. A few hundred maybe.

The original price was £5K and this dude is willing to do me a deal lol. It is for a sunday and you get a paddock pass for the whole day (Ducati hospitality). I still think that even at £2.5k it is a bit expensive. I was just interested in the pillion ride, could not care less about the hospitality bit but this is how it is!

A few hundred quid for a pillion ride would be a lot more reasonable and I am sure more people will go for it.

Basically, the idea behind it is that the money (most of it) goes towards a charity in Africa which supply ambulance and transport services to different areas. Randy sort of works for that charity and does these rides. These passes are donated by Ducati to these people and they sell it to the general public.

I think I will give this is a miss, not because of the excessive money, but these charity people are occasionally dodgy. Many of them charge a massive salary and I do not want to pay for that unreasonable salary. A lot of them I have seen make money out of some one's misery in Africa.

Oh, he said the bike will be a 2013 Ducati MotoGP bike :D
