So I've waited many years to be able to buy a Duc and now I have the chance! My husband and I were originally looking for a Multistrada, we couldn't agree on it. Then we thought about a 1098. We liked it but had some concerns. Like maintenence and everyday rideability. We do alot of miles but wanted something to enjoy together and didn't want to spend all our time getting it serviced. Some how the bike Gods have been good to us and when we went to see a potential buy, it left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Not because the bike wasn't good but the particular bike we looked at left us with the impression that we needed to do our research.
We then went to our local dealer that had a 1098 and a 1098s, we figured we start our reseach there. Neither of those bikes were appealing to us, for a dealer, the bikes looked like they have been standing in the rain and we wanted something pristine. That's when we saw the 1199 and a sign that read "Demo bike". I asked for a test ride and my husband asked me not to fall in love with it. After 40 mins on the bike and getting happily lost with a gas light on I got a bit depressed that I had to bring the bike back. This is the only bike besides my 06 R1, that I instantly felt connected with. It was easy to ride, the sound is awesome and felt so light. The bike basically felt like it was tailored for me. My husband being the nerd that he is loved all the electronics as well as the ride height and weight. Then came the real test, how was it going to feel to sit on that tiny little plank on the back? Surprisingly more comfortable than the couch on the back of a Gsx-r! We fell in love, there was no going back. All this and we didn't even take the time to admire the looks. I've never seen a more stunning bike! This thing is ... on wheels, and if you've never had ... or you have a problem getting laid, this bike is a great alternative. That was yesterday and now we have decided to get a used 1199s Abs.
I'm thrilled to soon become a proud owner of a Ducati, especially an Panigale! If you haven't ridden one and are on the fence on deciding what bike to get, test drive one if you can, you owe it to yourself. I know there are faster bikes out there but seriously do you want to ride on the back of something that resembles a wrestler with a strange gimmick?
Cheers everyone, ride safe... well as safe as you can.
