the q3 outperformed the pirelli in the tests at the alabama track by dunlop. there were no issues with traction control or abs. The test tire was a 190/55. The q3 also outperformed the pirelli once worn. The 190/55 cant be recommend for the pani because it does not meet the load capacity. that does not mean it cant be used. it just cant be recommended by dunlop for legal reason because it doesnt meet the load capacity. the load capacity if your curious is 853 lbs at 42 psi.

pirelli claim was that no other tire would work with the pani becuase of the electronics. this has been found to be untrue.

finally the dimension range of the 190/55 would meet the range for 200/55 so it technically could be branded 200/55 as said by anthem on one other thread.

the decision to make a 200/55 with the proper load capicity has yet to be determined

as i get more news i will post.

thanks for the info.

i am on my 3rd Michelin Power Cup right now an i think it performs great! had some slides but the TC in 3 caught them well.

I'm sure the Q3 is a great tire, but this is Coke telling you it doesn't rot your teeth because their scientists said so.

the q2 outperformed the pirelli in the shootouts too. those were independent tests. what can i tell you dont buy it then. i am just telling you what i was told. makes no difference to me i am just looking for just as good tire for a cheaper price. the q3 is that tire to me.

i have ridden both the q2 and the pirelli. i thought the q2 was a better tire especially when wearing down. the q3 is better than the q2.

Pirelli does the same..... I have had a Q3 for around 3000 miles now.... I love it more every ride... I have never felt this tyre lacking or wanting in any circumstance.and it still has plenty of tread left...my Supercorsa would be well done by now (2400 mile tyre life for me)..So you can believe what you want about Dunlops testing and keep spending money on the Pirelli.... I for one will never go back to them and will always use Q3's ..well until the Q4 comes out at least...:)

i never road the q3 but the q2 was just as good or better when i was at miller. lets say they are equal for sake of argument. the q3 will last longer and is way cheaper.

phil i have heard good things about the Michelin Power Cup but have not ridden them.

stw we spoke about 190 vs 200 on the q3. according to dunlop the overall dimensions overlap so this tire can be labeled either way.

Mark....This is awesome news... Mainly because psychologically I always had some misgivings about changing tyre sizes.... No it seems I don't have to worry..lol...

not that it matters stw but i can assure you this will be my next tire unless a certain friend of mine can get the pirelli at the same price. an ama racer friend of mine (wont mention names i dont want to put anyone out there) said the dunlop tire is the best tire he ever rode .

Well Mark I am just your average street rider..but this tyre works for me.... Grip and tread life...oh..and price!!

pirelli never said other tires won't work with the electronics. In fact they have a few of their own other tire profiles in the system. What they said was that their tire/profile was optimized to work with the panigale. other tires would work just not as optimally as the Supercorsa tires that they tested with. ..

I love the Supercorsa and like them a lot better than the Q2's. I've only ridden the Q3's once so I can't comment (and it was on a S1000rr). It's a much more difficult decision if you compare the D211/D212GPA's vs the Supercorsa's. But for track use, I prefer the Supercorsa SC2's.

The Q2's are better in wet than the SP's though and they last longer. If you want cheaper cost per mile, the Dunlop's are a much better option. If you want out and out stickiness, I still prefer the Supercorsa SC/SP's.

noob question.

Does the tire come in the same size as the stock Pirelli SP's?
if not what size will u be getting?
Whats the price too?

the size is 190/55 however there is a range that the size falls in and it falls into the 200/55 size as well so technically they could label it 200/55 if they wanted.

the reason it is not recommended is because of the load factor. so dunlop cannot legally recommend the tire for the pani.

price is 168.95 for the rear front is 109.95 total 278.9

245 for the supercosa rear front is 190 total 435

prices are from sportbike track gear
i know everybody can find them cheaper i was just doing an apples to apples comparison

not sure actually i didnt ask but the load factor for the q3 is 853 lbs on 42 psi. so if you carry and weigh more than that i would advise against.

Hopefully no one is running that pressure...:p

my dealer put 40 psi in the Michelin at the last tire change. i called them and asked why, they said "that's what we put in there".

i understood they'd use the 32psi for the supercorsa at least. knowing i'd take it to the track right away and knowing my type of riding they should have gone with 25.

good that i checked it as soon as i got home.

next tire will be done at home again.

might try the dunlopz...
