I use a relatively quiet Schuberth C3 helmet on the street (getting the SR -1 for the track).

I've never used ear plugs on the street or track on a bike, but had wired sets for my auto racing days for communication. my research indicates that plugs decrease overall fatigue on long runs.

Do ear plugs on the street diminish your perception in any way that would put one in jeopardy? I'm keen to hear your opinions.

Which brand do you use?

Thanks.

I always use plugs.

I have a Scala G9 system in my helmet and I can still hear that through the plugs but without them any long trip is unbearable. The panny is a very loud bike.

I have a 1098 and never use to wear earplugs, but with the 1199 i wear them each time i ride. I have a Ducati Corse Aria helmet. The 1199 for sure is louder then the 1098, and the earplugs help with the wind noise as well. I can still hear things with the ear plugs in (car horns, the motor, etc.) but my ears are not ringing when i get home after a ride. My buddy has some custom ones that are molded to his ears, thinking about getting a pair of those?

I always use earplugs regardless of bike. I also use a Scala G4, and can hear music and take calls perfectly at motorway/highway speeds.

Same here. I do a lot of things that can cause hearing damage so I wear plugs no matter which bike I am riding. I use SureFire Sonic Defenders (EP3s or EP4s - whichever I can find on Amazon for a decent price when they wear out).

Never used them on any bike. One mans noise is another mans music. Been riding 37 years

Have to use earplugs otherwise you will start degrading your hearing.

$6 box of Hearos foam earplugs is the best mod you can buy. So much easier to focus, hear your own thoughts and enjoy the ride.

I always wear earplugs, or my Monster ear buds. When I rode the Pani home the first day, I didn't have them in. My ears were ringing like I had just left a concert.

Always use them. Either cheap throw aways or some moulded custom jobs I have.

Better than hearing damage.

Oh I am sorry what did you say ?

Use them especially if your helmet is on the noisy side.
Hearing loss is permanent.

I always use ear plugs, I could not imagine now riding without them. I just use the cheap foam disposable ones, and I have an Arai helmet.

Just takes all the harshness out and leaves you still able to hear everything else needed.

A must

I always wear earplugs. It is more comfortable and I am able to concentrate more on riding.

I rode for many years without them. Then I fought them for a couple of years and finally found some that were not too uncomfortable. Now if I forget to put them in after 100 feet I pull over and put them in.

Anyone who does not really needs to rethink their decision. I know several people who wear hearing aides. A decent (not best) set costs around $5000 and there is every chance that they will not be covered by insurance.
