Engine ice: School me

Using the C EVO draggin jeans with full kevlar lining that I bought down at PI in November and my last ride on a 35 deg C day stuck in some bad traffic sent the temp up but not enough to make it that bad.

Try some of those. Nice and thick, insulate well. I remember some other guy on here was wearing something else to stop heat under his leathers. Sorry cannot remember what it was though.

If I recall correctly he was stuffing a oven mitt in his pants ;)

I cannot answer the question because I've never used it. I heard it does help keep the engine running cooler but as others have stated, probably won't help much for the exhaust heat. This coupled with the fact that you have to replace it much more frequently thane anti freeze is a enough of a deterrent for me to skip it if I don't need to do it

I run engine ice in mine. Doesn't void warranty. Doesn't seem to make temps run lower, but it doesn't heat up nearly as quick and it comes down off temps faster. I don't know all the science behind which coolant is best but it does help with the heat a bit. Not necessarily running lower average temps.

Gotcha,
Thanks Elite.

Run Water Wetter and distilled water. Favored by club racers, required at some tracks (engine ice does not meet this requirement), and sold at most shops.

Does water wetter and distilled water bring the engine temp lower than ordinary coolant? I know water wetter is used for racing applications due to the race requirements of not having coolant in your bike while racing... but that is a race track requirement...

Heat is my problem too, I do wana bring my temperature a bit lower...was wondering the same thing as Joshinhecity.

Yes. Water is what actually brings your temp lower, coolant is just an anti-rust agent and is not very good at lowering temp. That is why they are mixed together, for a compromise. Things won't rust, and you still lower your engine temp. But when you have only water with the water wetter additive, you have much more water in their to remove heat. Although water wetter may not do quite as well to keep things from corroding.

Distilled water is great for one reason ONLY it keeps all the extra minerals in the water out of your engine!! an example, if you mix tap water/ well water/ground water with your coolant you will have some type of small deposits in there, the DISTILLED has completely removed all those deposits. Now that doesn't mean your engine will run cooler, its just cools cleaner!

Buy the Austin Racing exhaust the main issues seems to be the build up of heat in the exhaust.

I ceramic coated mine and its been absolutely fine.
