Engine light - O2 sensors after Ducati map

What’s your thoughts guys. After I finally got the Ducati map installed for my bike at the dealer all was good until the second ride. Engine light came up. Checked the codes and had several oxygen sensor listings. Cleared them and they came back straight away again.

The akra instructions showed only 1x front and 1x rear sensor to be installed into the new full system (MY23) so I blocked the other 2 sensors with the supplied bungs. You’d think if this was how it was meant to be the tune file would accommodate and I wouldn’t be getting fault codes.

Reckon I should throw an o2 sensor in, clear the codes and see if only the other bank comes up?

Let's consolidate terminology.

By bungs, I take it you mean male threaded block offs to serve as stoppers in the welded onto the tubing female O2 sensor ports.

What are you doing with the unused O2 sensor electrical connectors?

Yes of course.

The Akra kit came with terminating plugs for the 2x unused o2 sensor harnesses (1x front sensor and 1x rear). They are effectively just plastic caps to seal the connectors off as opposed to anything that bridges connections. The new map file would in a typical situation, delete the ecu evaluation of a disconnected circuit.

Looking at this so far, I believe all 4 o2 sensors should have actually been used in the install. Not how the installation instructions showed. They were still definitely for the newer MY23 model.

Installed the other 2x o2 sensors, cleared codes, started bike. No engine light. Rechecked codes and none evident. Fingers crossed for next outing.

I understand it takes two or three cycles of the ignition, bike running, for the codes to return.....

Ok fair enough. Last time I cleared them they came back straight away. See how it goes I guess.

I had the Akra full lower installed at the dealer. They initially connected (2) o2 sensors, flashed and updated to race evo mapping. Said it was good. Got there, started it , revved a couple of times, and the CEL came on. Left for a couple of hours while they contacted Ducati. Dealer stated all 4 o2 need to be installed. Have not had and error since. 400+ miles since install

Spot on. 300km deep into a ride today and no engine light. Definitely needs all 4x o2 sensors connected

Odd part is that they didn't road test it.

They said they did, although I’m not sure if they did or not. They had it for a week and there were 8 added miles, so I would tend to believe them. Took care of the CEL immediately while we went to lunch. Service manager, parts manager, and tech all said the install manual said just 2 were needed. Ducati tech said 4. Two hour drive each way, so glad it happened there. On the other hand, the dealer I bought it from is 10 minutes away from me. They wanted it trailered, lights, turn signals, mirrors and plates removed. Required I sign a document stating it would never be driven on the road and pictures before I could leave with it.
