Hey guys,

I was getting ready to start my Sunday ride, when I noticed the yellow engine ligh and the red ENGINE warning on (see photo). I rode the bike around the block and quickly noticed the engine boggling on acceleration. The manual says that when these two warning come on, it has to do with the ECU.

Any help or guidance is appreciated, befor I have to take the bike to the shop. The closest one is neither close nor cheap. Thanks in advance!

this is something i've asked before on this forum too, and unfortunately, the only way you'll ever know what the light is for is to take it in to a dealer with a diagnostic computer....stupid, i know

They give you a list of codes in the manual. That being said when those two lights are simultaneously lit, it could be many things. If you bike is having throttling issues TPS is common. Ducati actually listing possible faults in the manual with no possible diagnostic intervention by the owner is a bit baffling until you realize that it's a Ducati then it makes perfect sense. I feel bad for the owners who do not have realistic access to an authorized service center who are left to ponder the futility of it all. I sometimes miss carburetor sand a throttle cable. It seemed to work pretty well and if you could change a flat on a kids bike, you could fix it.

Update:
Bit the bullet and made the long trip to the shop. Replaced both vertical and horizontal MAP sensors and $700 later, the bike is supposed to be as good as new (I am still figuring out a ride to go pick it up).
They tell me this is a very common problem, but since my Pani is a 2012 model, I am out of warranty.

I love these bikes, but sometimes I get tired of how finicky they are. My MV Agusta is just as bad and it is a 2013. Sometimes I missed my GSX-R back when I could not afford the italians.

Took mine to the dealer today. I had the horizontal map sensor pop up during the diagnostic. The mechanic said that this was the first map sensor that he knew of that had failed (of the bike through that service department)

Check my thread on this problem.

I'm the same way and swore i would never get another duc after my 1098 TC. Although she was problem free for the time i owned it i got spooked from all the problem threads about them and decided to go back to the R1. Long story short, once you ride an italian you dont go back! picked up a 13 1199 so heres hoping she ok

The jap bikes are awesome because they are pretty problem free and if a problem does happen its pretty cheap to fix typically. Only problem is your .... still stinks where as when im on the 1199 i feel like im godzilla lol
