So I purchased a 1199S/ABS and added the full race exhaust. Long story someone pulled out in front of me and I had to lay the bike down. Insurance totaled it. I ordered a Tri-Color and now I have it. I added the slip ons, because they are not scratched, and the race pipe to make a full kit.

I was reading my manual and it says that I should have "Racing Evo" up since I have full system. I called dealer and they advised that from what they were told that the USB Map key is only good one time so the "Racing Evo" key will now not work on my Tri-Color. All I can use at this point is the map for the slip-ons.

My questions is HAS ANYONE HEARD THIS?

I would think if I paid for the full race kit I should be entitled to the map. What do you y'all think?

Very frustrated and looking for some solid answers....if there is a Ducati rep on here please speak up.

People have the right to know!

Can't imagine you can only use the stick once. In that way they force you to keep the system on one bike, not interesting for selling it.
Can't believe they don't allow you to reuse the stick after paying such amount of money.
Sound like Microgonisoft to me ;)

You added your slip ons from the totaled bike even though the tri comes with slip ons?

Same thing I would think. But according to Ducati it's paired to the bike and that's it. If this is some BS somebody please speak up all of use here know whats up. $3,499.00 plus tax is a lot of change to only use once....

BW,

no I purchased a complete racing set for my first one. Got the Tri then added the slip on that come with the Tri, cause they were clean and no scratches, to the racing pipe. Dealership said that the map key for the flu set would not work, only the map that came with the slip ons.

also, not to pry, but ABS didnt help avoiding laying it down. Did the front wheel lock regardless?

you have state here that you purchased a complete sytem
well i would have thought you would have the map that comes with that
1 sytem = 1 map
im sure some one on here will post exactly what yo should have got

He should have both maps right now. 1 that came with the full system and another that came with the Tri Slip-Ons.

RM,

Correct I should have 2 maps. One for the full set and one that is for Tri's slip ons.

Just as an fyi, the dongle doesn't actually upload any maps. It turns out the maps for the Termi full system and silencers as well as other maps are already on the ECU. The dongle triggers the access to a specific map.

Sorry, your post is not clear.

You bought a full system for your crashed bike, the map was unlocked with your thumb drive. It cannot be used again period.

Then you bought slipons which also came with a thumb drive to unlock that map.

So I am confused, what is the problem?

Why would something cost that much and only be able to be used once? I paid for it it's mine, why can't I use it again as I still have the system? Can I get a new key? IS this a charge? Why does it not say this as a notice when you buy? This should be aware to everyone in case they want to resell their parts....

Does anyone see the value here?

DJ I was told it's 2 different maps.

1. Slip on map
2. Full exhaust map

I have full exhaust on my bike but only show "Racing" when started which means I have the slip on map installed.

Any difference in the maps? Will it damage anything if I ride it with flu set on but slip on map installed?

It's pretty straightforward, the up map dongle can be used to upload or back down the ECU Map. So the first bike had the slip on map (racing) then the dealer would have unloaded that map using the slip on dongle and uploaded the full system map (racing evo). The problem is he needs to switch back to the standard map on the original bike to allow the dongle to work on the new bike.
When I had my full system put on, they couldn't load the new map without the slip on dongle first to unload the slip on map.

The dongles unlock the map on the ECU one time only so to change any map the permission has to be put back on the dongle if you like.

Truth is, yes the full system is better, smoother, less lumpy but that's all virtually map that does that, I guess they don't want the racing evo map being put on bikes with standard pipes, although that would probably work fine and improve it greatly.

So one map on, one map off gedit??

got it. I just wish we knew that. Does anyone know if this will mess with anything if my bike has full exhaust but only slip on map installed? Does anyone know who I can contact to get a new key reissued to unlock the full exhaust map?

Any help at this point is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

I wonder if it's possible to copy the data on the dongle before using it. I don't know how it works but I guess the ECU writes to the dongle. Has anyone tried to read what's on the dongle?

The problem is the dongle has a four pin connection, not a USB so it's not a case of plugging it in to a PC and reading it. No idea what the pins are.

The solution for him is simple, he needs to get access to the written off bike and unload the ECU map for racing evo. He can then upload it on the new bike.

Ps the dealer said the full system with the racing map ( slip on ) was fine if I couldn't get him my upload map to do the upgrade so your fine. Missing some HP no doubt but fine.
