Exhaust popping/backfire

Love the pop, especially under hard accelaration, shouldn't be doing it at tickover though...

Popping, crackling sounds are very normal for Ducati engines. All my Ducati's does it, even on my little Monster 696.

I've got the base model and it doesn't pop when shifting gears up/down using DQS or the clutch, regardless of what RPM i'm changing gears in.

My mates got the termi slip ons and his pops when shifting gears up. Do you guys think it may have to do with the fact that I haven't changed my stock exhaust?

I need this sound in my life haha..

I got a pop a few days ago when I tried to push the limit on my gas reserve and was 1/2 mile from the gas station to fill up when POP then hsssss.... coasting at 35 mph then pushed my bike the last 1/4 mile to fill up. Not fun but super glad and suprised how light my bike is :)
Was also surprised how easily it started right up after filling up. Was expecting a hard start but all was good

It's a feature!

When I had the test ride, the first thing the salesman asked when I got back was if I'd heard it!

Love my POP and want more! As soon as I installed my Termi's I got more popping. I've only 400 miles on my bike right now so not much seat time because of this ...... winter but much more popping and crackling to come I presume!

yeah I'm poping all over with my termis i didn't notice before winter break just since first spring rides was going to post the question myself but glad to know its normal

Does EBC have anything to do with the popping on you decelerate? I know sometimes the bike pops just by simply letting off the throttle. Friends have told me that even once in a while they will see some flames. Any insight? Thanks.

Some popping is absolutely normal. If you have noted an increase the frequency and significance in the pop, check that the 2 plugs have not come out of the front and rear exhaust pipes. I have a post out there on the rear plug, it can be seen through the hole in the rear heat shroud on the right hand side of the bike. The front plug is behind the front heat shield and can be seen front the lower opening in the right side fairing.

If those are in place it is probably the sound everyone is describing and love to hear.

You should hear my wife's 696 with the Termi system/ECU. Now THAT bike really pops and backfires!!

Dearest Gents
So if I get popping with the full termi with no DQS, just the regular use of the clutch, that is OK?

The only reason I ask because, although I have owned this bike for 7 months now, I could never ride it because of the major weather conditions up here ( snow, rain ) in Canada.

I finally took it out for a spin but noticed popping but when I use the clutch...
Needless to say, I was pooping myself when i heard this popping because I thought there is a cylinder issue, or fouled plugs?

Thoughts anyone?

Sincerely
Pooped when I heard the pop

I miss the Bang/Boom that my 1198SP used to make using the DQS with full Termis, the Pani1199S with Full Termis is a little more subdued, bless it!

a lot of pop here with the open cans. i will have to put up a gopro to see if there's flames shooting out while popping :D baaaam :p

On a cold engine in 2nd and 3rd there are definitely flames.:D

On a dyno, you can see the header backing up!
