10mph approx.. high side...

I'd like to know more about that.

A short narrative on how not to do it perhaps?
Are you at the stage in your mind where you are analysing it in every detail yet?
I should imagine a few days after the event you'd be there, and re-living every moment of it by now.

Anyway I'm very glad you're OK:)
But you're a bit hard on the gear mate:rolleyes:

Glad you're ok Steve, hope the bike's not too banged up! Many of us have been there tumbling across the ground and all you can think about with every impact is "I hope the bike's OK..." :)

True;)
Of course it is inevitably preceded by the usual OH .... moment;)

It's also an indictment on the prevailing mindset.
We as motorcyclists are a pretty ...... up type of people.
I think it's mostly blokes that will have thoughts like that.

I wonder if a woman would think the same way during a crash:confused:

Well thanks Brad...Kick a man when hes down huh??..:)

Of course I have replayed this spill.... Firstly no one else to blame but myself...'Tis why I feel particularly sick about it...
It boils down to cold slightly damp pavement ...slick surface and brand new tyre.... 10+ years since my last spill.... But I am still very disappointed in myself....

I've seen ......... make their way out of the garage area n on to the track n forget to remove their tire warmers. I've seen a guy tip his bike over while turning into a business parking lot and tip his bike over cuz he was going too damn slow. Hell, I've shared this with you via PM and I've even made the mistake of leaning over further than I should have while making a right turn n crossing over the glossy white pedestrian patch on the street while having just left the shop after getting new tires and nearly lost the rear end but miraculously saved it. Scared the living crap outta me even though it was like a 15mph turn. My point is, .... happens. This is the risk we take every time we hop on the bike and hit the road/track. .... happens. Could it have been prevented? Probably. Does that mean you should beat yourself up over it? Definitely not. I know it's easier said than done and I've been far more pissed off than I should have been but about 6-7 years ago, I tucked the front end on my zx6r and slid into gravel through the canyons and was pissssed!! Mostly fairing damage and broken footpeg and dented gas tank. I was able to ride the bike back home, pulled into my driveway and out of sheer frustration, tossed the bike on it's side for good measure rather than putting the kickstand down. Definite temper problems lol when I calmed down, I realized .... happens and luckily I didn't go flying off a mountain cliff n lived to see another say. Went outside n picked up the bike n put it in the backyard n sold it a few months after in that condition.

Insurance will get your baby back to perfect. Turn that frustration into positive energy and heal quickly. Spring is approaching :)

Helpin' a brother out

So our beloved Stw, one of the coolest guys on this forum (even before he was promoted to his high-paying role as moderator) crashes a bike, thrashes a body and bruises an ego. And what does he do?

(It seems obvious, but no one's mentioned it)

Barely happened, and he's "thank"ing guys!
Status is still up in the air, and he's "post"ing on his progress!
Story's hot off the press, and he's already "reply"ing with helpful insight!

A big hoo-rah to an amazing & honorable guy who goes out of his way every day to help a brother out.

Steve, you rock!!!

I think he deserves a big round of applause:

watch

SOOOOOOOO...if you'll help Steve replace his broken parts (for his Duc, unless you have a spare ankle or wrist), light this thread up!

Get well soon STW, very sorry to hear about your crash.

After one broken leg (car accident, Finland), one broken knee (tequila accident, Cabo san Lucas) and two fractured wrists (mountain bike accident, Arizona) I can tell that bones heal relatively quickly.

Gunny, thanks for letting us know.

Sucks to read this STW....thoughts are with you and hopeful for a speedy recovery (for both you and the bike).

Dear Mr Moderator,

I was saddened by your unfortunate misadventure so much so that I would like to offer you my medical services. I am a kind Nurse and experienced in this sort of trauma. Now I can catch an early morning flight bringing with me English tea, homemade soup and a jolly good novel to read to you.
I await further instructions

The Duchess

Duchess...Thanks so much for your offer... My own personal nurse sounds awesome right about now... Ironically I was born and raised not too far form where you are.... Other than the tea all sounds good...when can you get here??? lol

Merely a flesh wound. Come back and I will ride you again.

Speedy recovery!!!
