I hope they all dont come aprt like that when they fall over... was that a real bad crash or is that what happens when there is no frame..? they did say he was going about 250. Nice to see guys getting their bikes and reporting back.

i went down last thursday 250+ at the end of the front straight at Sentul in indonesia on a RSV4 { no brakes so straight off } thought i wouldn't stop and hit the wall , then i thought i can save this , then it high sided me into orbit as i was rolling through the graves i could see the bike rolling over and over .

it was bloody quick , back to the pits the boys fitted up a new set of body work , re fitted the master cylinder reservoir { been ripped off } and bleed the brakes , checked over everything and i was out again for another 2 sessions after lunch .

apart from a full set of fairings and screen the only damage was cosmetic caused from the gravel frame tank and engine cases look like they where shot blasted with stones :-{{

i can believe how strong the RSV4 is and how well they crash , after seeing these shots yesterday i was a bit shocked to see how unlucky that guy was the crashes where both about the same speed , i was very lucky to walk away just stiff and sore but at least i got to ride the rest of the day

YEAH I DIDN'T EXPECT THE PANI TO BE ABLE TO TAKE A BEATING :-/

I'm a lil concerned, tho im not interested in fixing this bike if I ever lay it over. That sub-frame is gonna be "one time use only" lol. and fairings are gettin lighter and thinner every yr.

Ducs, as most high end bikes are a total loss with even a small wreck. Fairings aren't cheap, the tank alone on my 999 was $2000 on insurance claim lol. $600 here, $600 there before you knw it you're buying a new bike ;).

Lots interesting there from a forensic point of view; for one thing it definitely shows the vulnerability of the rear shock location. Interesting thing about that is that the front mount is where is broke loose; question being did the bolt break, or mounting bracket, or did it break the casting where the bracket mounts to the engine case/head? Pretty huge difference depending on the answer.

The monocoque/front subframe and fork assembly look to have done relatively well, so what frame there is hung in there. I wouldn't have expected that rear subframe to survive such a violent impact, nor the bodywork, so not much surprising there. And with the Panigale basically being some bits bolted to the motor with as little extra as possible, knocking the bits off leaves, well, the motor. Swingarm snapping's the thing that makes it really dramatic, and that's just a good example of why double sided swingarms make more sense. Maybe not so cool to look at, but smarter in most every other way.

At least we don't have to worry about who'll be the first to write one off anymore! I'd be interested in knowing if any of the ones that supposedly met similar fates at the training event at NOLA had similar damage.

EDIT: I should add that having the peripheral bits shear off and dissipate energy WILL protect the engine, so some of the parts shedding might actually be by design. More I think of it, that explains why the front shock mount is an unsupported shoulder-bolt. I'd thought about that when the first pics came out, and I'm now 99% sure that's where that one gave up.

Good showing for the 1199 at Monza!

1199s in first (Salvadori) and third (La Marra)

La Marra on Pole for Misano

Congrats to La Marra for putting the Panigale on pole for tomorrows race at Misano!

Close at the top but looking like we'll have a good race:

1 47 E. LA MARRA ITA Barni Racing Team Italia Ducati 1199 Panigale 1'39.634
2 11 J. GUARNONI FRA MRS Kawasaki ZX-10R 1'39.701
3 119 M. MAGNONI ITA G.M Racing BMW S1000 RR 1'39.831

Misano Race Results (only 3 Laps due to red flag)

OK - Short race, only three laps due to a crash that brought out the red flag but Panigales in first and third by the end of the three laps.

1 E. LA MARRA ITA Barni Racing Team Italia Ducati 1199 Panigale
2 M. MAGNONI ITA G.M Racing BMW S1000 RR
3 L. SAVADORI ITA Barni Racing Team Italia Ducati 1199 Panigale

Restarted 6 Lap race ended with the TOP three spots held by BMWs:

La Marra and Savadori held up to a solid 4th and 5th, with La Marra only 0.571 seconds behind the lead BMW.

1 S. BARRIER FRA BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet BMW S1000 RR 0
2 L. BARONI ITA BMW Motorrad Italia GoldBet BMW S1000 RR 0.137

Ah that sucks. Too bad it didn't go longer as the BMWs seem to do better in shorter distance runs, while Ducatis get stronger (or don't fade) as the distance increases.
