:D Well.. Good news..!.
After 7 months of constantly bitching about my 1299 S have problems with the throttle sticking in first gear while de accelerating in fist gear...I finally got it fixed! :D After countless hours and many weekends in the shop they finally figured out what the problem was...

I tried everything including purchasing the Akropovic Slip on's with the 1299 Racing "up Map" They were NOT cheap..It Made no difference.. The dealer re flashed the ECU No change.. They then replaced the ECU with a brand new one NO CHANGE..
They reset the throttle body sync no change..
Then they changed the entire throttle body system NO change..
The factory rep was going to have them change out the entire clutch assembly (which makes absolutely no sense to me at all) However, their head mechanic had a brain storm and tried re mapping the IMU (inertial measurement unit) and adjusted it for the tires and THAT actually fixed it!

I was really wondering if they were ever going to find out the actual problem and that it would be in the shop for a long time while they just started replacing stuff.. LOL

I am so happy because it now runs great and I don't have the throttle sticking when trying to go around a slow turn in first gear!

There is only one more thing that bugs me.. Today I was at a restaurant and was turning going downhill somewhat out of the parking lot and had the front brake applied when when it suddenly died on me..
(Since I was in the process of turning out of the parking lot ( and had the handlebars turned almost to full lock when it died) I lost forward momentum and the front end started to tuck and it almost fell over on me)..( It took a lot of effort to get it to lift it back up right and I am pretty strong.)

Now for worst news.. In the process of slamming my right foot down on the ground and bracing to lift the bike back up, I just re wrenched\twisted my ankle (which was healing from surgery for a broken Talus bone (with two screws in it that I fractured) from a high side at the track on Labor Day... I just got the boot off of it two weeks ago and had just got back from physical therapy a couple of hours earlier :( I also re jammed my right thumb LOL

So it is STILL dying on me like many others experience.. Funny thing is it had not happened in quite a while ..

Oh well I guess THAT subject has been beat to death. Just about everyone has to put up with the bike dying on them.. But at the wrong time it can be damned dangerous..
Just part of the "Ducati Character" I guess
This bike has TOO MUCH "Character" if you ask me..LOL

OUCH about the ankle and thumb! Dayum that sucks. Glad they got the sticky throttle issue fixed, but dyin again ain't good.

You win one and lose a couple it seems. Hope you're ok. I know about pins in ankles from my own high side experience :(

I wrote a conclusion on that problem in an earlier post about the bike dying. Its only 4 or 5 options really.

Does "adjusted for the tires" mean you weren't running OE rubber?

No..The last tires I was running were the Pirelli DOT SC'sTrack tires (which are the same exact tire circumference/ shape as the stock SP's with different rubber compounds etc.)
The sticking throttle was actually a problem I was having from day one when I bought the bike..**At one time I had changed the countershaft sprocket (went down one tooth) to give it more pull while riding in town..I had since switched back to the original sprocket..
I had of course gone through the programming routine that you can access from the dash.. (Get it in the programming mode and ride it at 35 to 38 mph for a short distance and the ECU supposedly readjusts for the new gear or tire size.)
Some of the time I had gone to the SC-2 slicks while on the track and then back to street tires.. Each time I went through the reprogramming sequence again to reset it for the tire that were mounted. ..
Evidently the original IMU programming was off kilter and no matter what they did it would read incorrectly and trigger the throttle sticking while de accelerating in first gear. This also affected the way the traction control would operate sometimes which affected the way it would run but that is another story....
Finally they figured out what the issue was.. This is the first time I have ridden the bike when it wasn't doing that and it is a lot easier to ride..:D

The "Factory Rep" did not have a clue and was just trying to find an excuse not to cover it under warranty..:( That is why when the mechanic at the dealership told him that they had re-flashed the ECU in an attempt to solve the problem he said that they had VOIDED my warranty..! The dealer had to fork over $1500.00 for a new ECU... Those of you out there that get your ECU Flashed beware!!
I am surprised that no one else has experienced this phenomena? Oh well a least I got it fixed and can ride..
All I have to worry about now is it dying on me at the wrong time and getting run over by a truck like everyone else out there .. LOL

what an unusual sequence of events that led to it being unrideable. Well, today I learned the IMU can be remapped, or calibrated, or whatever it is they did to it.

When my bike was bone stock, I had a stall just like yours, slowing down to turn out of my neighborhood. It's like dropping anchor lol, and took very quick foot action to catch the bike and keep it from falling over.

Any thoughts I was still entertaining about keeping the bike stock ended right then and there!

Yeah.. It is pretty ridiculous that you pay $25K for a bike (and then have to spend more money just to get it to run the way it should have from the get go)!!!!...
As far as the stalling episode.. The way you described it is exactly like it was for me.. The bike just stopped dead cold. I damned near dropped it right there because it was so sudden and I was already starting to lean into the slow turn.. I had to slam my right foot down real fast and pull like a mother on the handlebar to keep it from falling all the way over.. It was all I could do to keep from falling over right there in the parking lot. I also re wrenched my ankle (that I just had surgery on about 8 weeks ago..) and it was just starting to heal and stop swelling.. now I'm hurting again I hope it didn't break again..It is pretty swollen right where they put the pin and two screws....
What is even worse is when everyone watches you take off and it stalls then they just think you are a squid and don't know how to ride.. It is friggin embarrising LOL

except those of us 'in the know'...we say under our breath 'yup its a duc'

When I first bought the Duc I made a statement about how owning it was similar to dating an Italian Supermodel... It was absolutely beautiful..but it was very expensive and very demanding and fickle to deal with.. But in the end it was an Italian Supermodel... I figured even with all the BS It would be worth it.

Well after dating this little ..... for a while I am deciding it is just not worth putting up with her ....! She is either going to learn to behave or I'm going to dump her..! Life is just too short to put up with this much crap..

Suddenly the BMWS100R is starting to look a lot prettier LOL...

Yeah Maybe I might have to go Japanese again.. They seem to be able to build a great bike without all the "glitches and Character " like the European bikes.. At least for the most part..

I wanted an exotic and now that I have had one, I'm getting less and less impressed with the benefits of owning one..

I will try to remove the charcoal canister and see if that does the trick. and See if it is going to die on me again ....** I have never overfilled it because I read about the problems with doing so..

She is still a beauty but she has turned in to a real ..... LOL.
