First 1199 How-To: Air Filter replacement

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Bought termi slip-ons from my ducati dealer here in Manila...It came with the Y-collector, two termi slip-ons and a USB...no airfilter included.

I eventually ordered a BMC airfilter and had the dealer install it too...watched the Ducati Technician do it...not that hard...fairly easy job. Aside from removing the tank which was the easy part...its the upper Throttle body injectors that need to be un-clipped from the main mikuni throttle bodies inorder to make way for the removal of the airfilter...

I asked Ducati Tech guy to show it to me...so I could service my BMC high flow airfilter next time...not hard at all for me.

But the Termis whether it be a slip-on or full system never comes with an aftermarket airfilter.

Well, I just installed the MWR filter and took pics to do a lil install how to....and just saw this lol. I can do one with a lil more details if you guys want but the video is pretty straight forward.

Guys.

I am trying to do the same...
Shall I drain the fuel from the tank or not? Nothing mentioned in the manual...

Sorry... I mean to remove the tank...

I am going to remove it and to cover a ceramic coated.

Simply put I like how it shines but first one this is for protection from scratches.

Not sure why you would want to ceramic coat the tank. You can use a 3M film to protect the tank from scratches. If you ceramic coat it, you are going to end up with a finish way less attractive than paint, plus it has to be heated to be applied, which would mean you would have to ensure it is not only drained but you would have to remove the fuel pump as well and allow it to air for a few days to make sure there were no vapours left inside or traces of fuel. Not withstanding the fact that the heat applied during coating might not do your tank the world of good, being that it is only thin aluminium. A little risky in my opinion. On an exhaust I can understand it, on a tank nope sorry....waste of time for what you are trying to achieve. As others have said if you want to change the air filter, you are only disconnecting the tank's fuel and electrical connections in order to remove it and gain access to the airbox. No need to drain it of fuel. Don't take this the wrong way. I understand English is not your first language and my Russian is non existent but you will have to explain a little more clearly exactly what it is you are trying to accomplish.

Thank you! I understood you fully :)

I was checking the forum how can I remove the tank to get more space to add a wiring and found this thread about air filter. I am not going to replace the air filter. I just want to remove the tank.

So, my question was if I want to remove it I need to drain the fuel or not... Got it.. I don't need to do it.

Correct? :)

Thank you!

Regarding the ceramic coating. I won't do it myself. I am going to go a qualified company and ask them to make it.
