Carnivor, the weekend is over. Did you pick up the bike?
I pre ordered my the base model last year at the bike show in Jacob Javits Center from a Jersey dealership. I called them friday and they don't know jack about whats going on with shipment, arrival, etc.
Just wondering how the heck did your bike arrive, but no one else in jersey or east coast.

Exactly.. Must be that fabulous Italian logistics system.I like how I can track a t-shirt every step of the way from China, but my dealer can't tell me where a crate with a motorcycle is...

Resale wasn't in the back of my mind at all when I chose the S model. I understand I could have taken the $5k difference and bought BST wheels and Ohlins. If it was meant to be my dedicated track bike I probably would have gone this route.
I have a 600 for the track so this will be a road bike for 99% of it's life. I felt like the electronic suspension was the main selling point. The idea has always intrigued me and I'm anxious to try it out.
Not to mention this is all a turn key package. The older I get the less I want to turn a wrench. Everyone has their own justifications. I tried to with the R and just couldn't. Money wasn't the deciding factor either.
ETA: Who looks at bikes as monetary investments anyway?
The electronic suspension certainly helps mitigate the wide variance in Texas road and weather conditions. It is easily one of my favorite street-riding features on the 1199 S. I think you'll be very pleased with your decision.
Electronic suspension in the 1199 S is not active or semi-active. Once you electronically set rebound and compression it stays there. I don't see how it can mitigate the wide varaince in road and weather conditions, unless you keep adjusting the suspension yourself.
Different story with the 1299 S. The 1299 S has an "event based" semi-active suspension, not intended for confort but rather for track and spirited riding.
Right, changing baseline settings will accomodate for different riding conditions. I was thinking along the lines of dynamic changes in the suspension.
