Just wanted to share some pics of my first track day with my Panigale.

Man, you guys were pitted right across from me. It's was you, an MV F4, a couple of Aprillas I think. Huge EZ up? I should have come over. Are you going to Homestead on the 2nd of February?
 
was that your first track day ever or first with the tri ? also how did you like the grip of the luimoto.

very interesting the reason i ask is that i have been to the track before and i am debating getting a track bike and not take the pani or the hp4. kind of a catch 22 bikes are made for the track but you dont want to crash them either. my track days were on an r6.

This is exactly my thought process as well. Sure I'm fully insured and it does cover track days and only $100 deductible but still. I'd be crushed if I trashed my Pani after having put so much into it. I know me and I definitely wouldn't be pushing it. I should have purchased my buddy's 07 CBR600RR which he was selling for only $3800 back in May. I've got too much into the Pani to even want to push it hard at the track. I'd definitely take it but I too would not try and get a knee down or anything. Just enjoy a track day for the sake of being at one on a bike.
 
this fact double 0 is why i am considering letting the hp4 go and get an R1 save 15k and go have fun. then i say how many track day am i actually going to do? that makes me say f it still get the hp4 and switch back and forth with the 1199.

i do know a few guys that track the 1199 with no worries. yea insurance will cover you but who wants the hassle. plus my 1199 has so much carbon and after market parts i dont even think i can track it. i like you would stay in my boundaries but who knows as you get better naturally you will push a little more. its a tough call for sure.

kudos to you Mr. Miami for just doing it on your first time

Hold up. You guys buy an 1199 and will not push at the track? That's what the bike is made for. Lol, I destroyed my right knew slider and just bought two more pairs . High density. Get those bikes on he track. They are lethal... Check my video in the Bitubo thread. I was railing..
 
I'm sure for me, all it's going to take is one track day. I've done it in a car before but never on a bike. This coming March I will be doing the CSS with a couple of buddies and probably pay the extra $$ and use their S1000RR instead of my bike. Then I plan on attending at least 1 or 2 track days after that. Again, I'll more than likely ride similar to the way I ride through canyons. Just aggressive enough to make it fun. Maybe aggressive wouldn't be the right word to use given the fact I still have 1 inch chicken strips on each side lol I'm certainly not bothered by that when being picked on. Or am I? Nope lol

I mean it seems like you have $$ (if you knew how much I make a year at the moment, you'd be like wtf??) but even if I had that kinda cash, I'd still get a used bike if I intended on doing track days often. If it was going to be a once or twice a year kinda thing, cool. Get the HP4 and alternate between the beauty and the beast. You can decide which is which =)

As you are riding on the street chicken strips are a good thing...pushing your bike hard enough to not have these ... anywhere but the track is a huge mistake IMO....

I can't speak for Mark but for me, I could get my rocks off just by staring at this work of art. I also get the most pleasure by the mods and making it a one off kinda bike. Sure there are a lottttt of "primered" Pani's but certainly not a single one like mine. If anyone saw photos of my bike somewhere and happened to see me ridin in the streets, there would be no question that's Double0's Pani. Sure, riding a bike hard and feeling that rush while pushing it on 2 wheels is an indescribable feeling that only riders know but if I hadn't invested so much into the bike, then I'd track it n push it hard for sure. That's like asking Gunny to track his bike and push it hard. No way he's going to risk destroying his bike after having put so much into it. Not discrediting his riding ability but he's got a lot more to lose than to prove something, whether it be to someone else or to himself. I enjoy riding the bike. Pushing it hard couldn't give me a greater feeling of joy than I already experience now. Hope that clarifies my view further.

i am like you on that. when you see my bike you know its mine. its amazing to look at thats why i get so pissed when the problems occur. gunny has a dedicated track back by the way.

I've been down in the canyons about 8 years ago on my 04 ZX6R. Tucked the front end and slid into gravel. $3500 worth of damage on an $8k brand new bike, plus a very slight bent frame. Obviously I wasn't hurt physically but I certainly was emotionally. I picked up the bike, rode it home and pulled into my driveway and threw the damn thing on its side without a kickstand out of frustration. Damage was mostly fairing on the left side (front to back). After that experience, I realized I had nothing to prove to anyone as well as myself. Road conditions can be sketchy and you can't know about debris or any other crap on the road before hand. As I've already mentioned, if I'm going to drag knees, it will be on a cheap used bike that I can not think twice about messin up. Fully insured or not.

Something Id be VERY scared to do with my mod list for sure!
You are definitely using it for what it was made for and hope to see you and Leon (Juice) out there together pushing each other to the edge - stay safe guys!!
 
You stand a much better chance of crashing on the street than on the track, I have always considered the racetrack as a safe place to explore the parameters, as opposed to the street, too many variables. Track days are the safest yet.

Whilst I understand your logic..I don't agree that the street is riskier in that sense..On the track you will naturally push way harder ..well hopefully anyway...and therefore push the envelope... increasing the chances of a spill...
 
I agree with Centeroff. On the track, debris, cars, guard rails etc are not going to be an issue. The track is so much more comfortable to me. I control the pace. I don't understand people that say they can take the Panigale in the canyons it back road twisties, but can do the track. I've crashed many bikes, both on the street and track, but I understand thats part of the game. Fix it and get back in the field.
