First Day On The Track With My Tricolore

I don't understand people that say they can take the Panigale in the canyons it back road twisties, but can do the track.

Fastest guys around here do more canyon then track, they use the canyon to keep them sharp. Their no slouches on the track either holding their racing lic.

Here the canyons are really sick, so they get abused.

One canyon that is a blast they dug up and put a pipe down the center for 3 miles. So you have a bout 2-3' wide lane you can hot rod in, really helps with holding exact lines. Hated it at first, now I love it just because its more of a challenge.

this fact double 0 is why i am considering letting the hp4 go and get an R1 save 15k and go have fun. then i say how many track day am i actually going to do? that makes me say f it still get the hp4 and switch back and forth with the 1199.

i do know a few guys that track the 1199 with no worries. yea insurance will cover you but who wants the hassle. plus my 1199 has so much carbon and after market parts i dont even think i can track it. i like you would stay in my boundaries but who knows as you get better naturally you will push a little more. its a tough call for sure.

kudos to you Mr. Miami for just doing it on your first time

I'll be tracking the 1199 this coming season and will on occasion see how the HP4 gets around. I think you'll be sorry for letting the HP4 go.

i don't think i can let it go. i say that know cause I'm thinking with my brain. if i bought with my brain i wouldn't have the 1199 i would have the r1. lol when the hp4 is in front of me I'm pretty sure i will be taking it home

By all means track the damned thing! That's what its for. I've pushed mine pretty hard, and run off at least once each at three different tracks. Never down, and no damage. Just stay off the front brake... You'll never get away with that on the street.

Just change your perspective. You're there to ride the line you want, and the bike is just a tool that all but dissapears under you if its set up right. Look ahead and plan out your movements. Don't go out there focused on not crashing, that will never work.

This is exactly my thought process as well. Sure I'm fully insured and it does cover track days and only $100 deductible but still. I'd be crushed if I trashed my Pani after having put so much into it. I know me and I definitely wouldn't be pushing it. I should have purchased my buddy's 07 CBR600RR which he was selling for only $3800 back in May. I've got too much into the Pani to even want to push it hard at the track. I'd definitely take it but I too would not try and get a knee down or anything. Just enjoy a track day for the sake of being at one on a bike.

What kind of insurance do you use and how much?

I applaud you for taking the Tri out there on track my man!
Something Id be VERY scared to do with my mod list for sure!
You are definitely using it for what it was made for and hope to see you and Leon (Juice) out there together pushing each other to the edge - stay safe guys!!

It was a very nervous experience but I stayed in my limits.

Many people at the track were looking at me sideways since I did not have track fairings/ body kit on the bike.

Well said! :D

AAA Insurance. $100k/$300k/$50k coverage $100 deductible for both comp n collision. $760 for the year for just the policy but I also have motorcycle and car towing as well so I pay a total of $840 for the year. The untimed track day coverage is the selling point for me but it is also more coverage and cheaper than my previous state farm coverage.

My dedicated track bike is a Ducati 999s and I really am not concerned with dropping it... It's gonna happen sooner or later, but in the meantime, I will focus on improving my race body position and race lines... Falling off a bike at the track can be a very liberating experience. I have done it on my past bikes. Once you come to grips with this notion, the fun begins and you will have a more relaxed demeanor.

To me the track is safer.

I don't need to worry about drivers cutting out in front of me or road debris ( yes I know the track has it's share , but I don't think as intense).
At the track, we are going in the same direction-- working on improving our lines, body position. Although there will always be guys who want to push the limits of their bikes, if they can't do it in a controlled manner , they will reap the unfortunate " benefits" of crashing out..

You are your worst enemy most of the time ( unless some retard rides recklessly and takes you out)...

I am a much better street rider because of my track experience, regardless that it has little commonalities with the street...
