I always hated the seat on my R1 , and meant to replace it , but never did. I think I'll take the plunge for a comfort seat for this bike. At 40 yrs old , I can't ride on a brick anymore !

I hear ya man. I replaced the seat on my 06 CBR1000RR (Sargeant) and on my 10 Z1000 (Corbin). Both were huge improvements so I'm hoping for the same here. I'm 41 and just can't take the misery like I could 10 years ago!!

Just crossed the 100 mile mark today..pathetic I know but I have been traveling since I got it. I don't think my old ass can handle this brick of a seat much more, so I ordered the comfort seat tonight. At 5'8", I'm either all the way forward to keep weight off my wrists, or far back to distribute weight evenly accross my ass. With the stock seat, it's brutal in both positions. Love the bike, hate the seat!

At 5'8" with a comfort seat, you might be lucky to comfortably touch the ground.

Yeah, I thought about that. I'd rather be a bit less stable in a parking lot and comfortable on the road.

5'6" 29" inseam. Stock seat is tough. Really have to bear down on my core to keep the weight off my wrists and hands. Put in a request at Helimodified for them to make Heli bars.

Got the comfort seat and can barely touch toes on both sides at once. Not sure this is going to work. Much more comfortable but, really have to concentrate on managing which foot is the primary foot. Noticed that a slight misjudgement with a strong cross wind while stopped almost blew me over. Removes any chance of me backing the bike while sitting on it.

Is your rear susp. set on " P " ? Could be wrong , but wont it " sag " a little more under your weight on that setting ? Might have to get some thicker soled riding boots also. I'm 5'9" and was'nt flat footed on the demo bike.

So since this is all about first impressions ill give my input. I finally finished my full break in service, 0-621 then 622-1250 miles. So yesterday i was finally able to ride my S with ABS to the limit and let me just say WOW! This bike is sooooooooo amazing. I did notice throttle response is very slow if riding in Wet mode or the Standard Sport mode when under 3000 rpms. I changed my sport mode to 195hi engine setting and the DTC to 4. Everything i else i left alone, this bike is quite easy to throw around in corners and handles like a dream. The power of this engine really hits about 8000 through redline and i have to say i love the red lights that flash as your approaching redline. I was riding with my friend who owns a R1 and lets just say he was quite impressed as was I. I havent pushed the top gears to much considering 3rd and 4th will easily let you break 100 mph. I'm 6 foot even and the ergo felt great although i need the bigger windscreen as its hard to really get below that stock one for my height. We rode for three hours and i felt as if i could ride more, so the seat in my opinion is comfortable enough. The bike didnt get to hot but we were constantly moving so the temperature stayed around the 150-160F area. I'm curious if anyone on here has maxed the bike out and what it will actually do? Or if anyone has taken it down a 1/4 mile and saw what their time was. I need more riding buddies around the Nashville TN area, if your around there PM me.

Set on P and static sag properly set up for my weight. Got a bunch of very nice race and waterproof road boots. Won't be trying to find thicker soled boots. In over 30 years of riding, I've never had a bike I could flat foot. Can ride my WR426F with a 36" seat height reasonably by just putting one foot down, but then again if it fell over it wouldn't bother me. Falling down on dirt is no big deal and on dirt I can usually find a hole to stop in, or a mound to stop next to.

I'm well practiced at riding tall for me bikes. At worst, I'll go back to the stock seat.

Cool ! If I sounded like I was trying to be a smart-ass with the boots comment , I was'nt. Hope you get it worked out. Ride safe.
