Rick whats your thoughts on the dry clutch?

I haven't compared it to the wet one in the 1100 yet. So, will have to wait and see. So far though:

Pros-
Marginally increased power due to not 'dragging' in oil.
Better initial grab for better starts.
Incredibly easy to maintain/swap plates.
Relatively cheap to replace plates.
Noise/sound.

Cons-
Very short service life.
Open covers allow debris and water in.
Plates can rust together.
Noisy.
Starts aren't massively better than wet clutches.

I personally wouldn't spend the money going to the dry clutch from the wet. At our level, I think it's more an aesthetic choice.

Nicely done! Entertaining narration and camera set up. Fun to watch - that number sticker blocking the camera view though - kind of a torture with all that good stuff going on the other side of it.
I'm inspired.

I am! Waiting on parts...

You need to start a build thread. What are you doing to it?

I assume the 'standard race prep package' - forks spring/revalve, shock spring/revalve (TTX GP?), link, triples, wheels, case covers, sliders, race bodywork + seat, tank extender, sprocket change, rearsets, levers, EVAP delete, ECU flash....

How good are the brakes on the base model - does it have the same brembos and a good master? Who are you going with for ECU flash?

I've seen enough build threads to know, it's not worth putting a build thread up, unless you love being criticised!

I won't be doing anything that hasn't been written here before though.

Going to try the Woolich!

Yep, stock brakes - Stylema calipers and Brembo master. Then SBS DS1 pads.

Personally not a fan of Ohlins, so going to go with Maxton. Then whichever I prefer from Maxton and Mupo, I'll go with in the other bike too!

haha @ no build thread. At least do a build video for your channel!

Curious why no love for Ohlins. I have never heard of Maxton. When it comes to suspension, part of the choice is which manufacturer your preferred suspension guy is most comfortable with and understands. Do you have a suspension tech well versed in Mupo / Maxton that know the valve bodies and stacks and shims and setup curves for the V4 platform?

What about K-tech? Isn't that pretty big in the UK?

Of all the suspension I've tried over the years, everything else has been better than Ohlins. It's a personal preference thing for sure though.
Maxton is a small British manufacturer, used a lot by roads riders (Isle of Mann TT etc). But also, their kit was used by a couple of teams in Thailand on the V4R, and it won their equivalent AMA/BSB championship. And, I get to deal directly with the product designer and company owner. And that's probably the biggest draw.
I spoke with K-Tech, and didn't feel they'd be able to give as good support as Maxton. And I find the K-tech quite harsh, especially compared to the Bitubo I ran on my BMW (I back to back tested the Bitubo with K-tech).
I'm getting on well with the Mupo, technical support hasn't been quite as good as I was hoping. Unfortunately most of the data has to come from Italy, and it's just not quite suited my riding style, which is why it's taken me so long to get a good setup. I had to leave their settings and just test every iteration of settings to find something good for me, which just takes time. And, a more reliable bike, would've helped the process!
I'll probably try the Bitubo shock out soon too, that was the best shock I've ever ridden, easily.

This is interesting feedback. I've got a V2 in the garage, ready to be built into a race bike. I'd been planning on the usual Ohlins route but my suspension guy is pushing me towards KTech, saying it's going to be more suited to our bumpy Australian tracks and has done quite well locally (ASBK champ uses KTech on his V4R). You say you found KTech a bit harsh, in what way?

What about the Showa's?

I will be running the stock kit before I swap anything out! The stock shocks usually overheat and lose damping after three to four laps. Actually, my favourite forks ever were the stock Showas on the 2016 ZX10R, which are the BFF gas fork. Unfortunately the Duke comes with the BPF, but we'll find our when I ride it!

100% go K-Tech over Ohlins. It's a no brainer.
The forks give a lot of feedback, compared to the Bitubo and Mupo. Some people find that extra feedback confidence inspiring, but I find it a bit much and prefer the smoother feel of the Bitubo.

That's awesome. 100%

Nice riding RickD996. Watched the video a couple of times and try to learn some things. Very interested in your feedback on the showa BPF.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
