recall for streetfighters produced between 7/3 and 7/31 2020
flywheel can have hairline cracks which could cause serious damage to the engine when broken
Ducati will contact the affected owners

That's most if not all SFV4(S) in the USA since restart in late April after lock down. What are the VIN numbers? I've seen VINs as high as the 2,700s. Maybe I'm wrong, but before the crisis barely 300 were produced world wide.

I have a V4S streefighter being delivered on Monday I have VIN and Engine numbers but won't know the build date until I see the bike, can the build date be figured out by using just the VIN or Engine numbers?

you might have to ship it straight back to Brisbane

You guys need to actually read the article.

"Thankfully, according to the NHTSA, there have been no reports of such incidents or any related crashes—the bikes haven’t been delivered to customers yet and remain in what the Association refers to as “Ducati’s network”. "

bp_SFV4 and Duc-rider, thanks for you input guys, DucatiKev- how about you close that hole below your nose mate. If someone asks a question they usually are looking for an answer or insight not somebody who just wants to be a smart ass and seem to have a obsessive disorder with putting their 2 cents into every single conversation on this form, what's up dude? trying to go for a world record with most conversations here, the air must be a bit thinner where you are.

Hi all,

I am to be taking delivery of a 2021 SFV4S within a week or two. If my bike is part of this recall, should I refuse delivery and wait for another? Is this something you would accept on your new SFV4S?

Any and all help is very much appreciated.

Just wanted to clarify also...

This is my first Ducati, and first brand new bike purchase, so I am mainly just looking for some direction from you experienced guys and gals on how to handle the possibility my bike is part of this recall.

It seems strange to take delivery of a brand new motorcycle that has to have the motor opened up before I even take it out for it's first ride, but perhaps it's not anything to worry about.

Anyway, thanks again for any and all help.

Make sure they replace any parts that have been recalled before you pick it up. You have the warranty so you’ll be covered if there’s any other problems for a few years.

Check your VIN on the link before you worry too much.

Don't think of it as in terms of a car. Pulling a engine on a sedan is a major operation. On a V4, its not nearly that complicated.

Andy7 has the right idea. Its covered under the warranty so enjoy.

Thank you Andy. For the most part, I'm pretty sure they will replace any part that needs replacing etc. In that I have confidence.

I'm hoping they open it up and see the flywheel is not part of the defective batch of flywheels, seal her back up, and send me on my way.

What I'm most worried about is a problem occurring down the road that may be directly associated with this initial recall, and then having Ducati try to tell me it is a completely separate issue or something to that effect. Again, having a brand new bike opened up before I even take it off the showroom floor seems odd to me haha

Thank you as well, bp_SFV4! I will definitely take both of your advice and not stress it too much. Even with this recall, I am still kinda stoked, and feel privileged to be getting into a Ducati.
