Just a reminder to not overfill the fuel tank. Fill below the bottom of the filler opening. If it fills to high fuel can enter the fuel canister and cause flooding.
It’s possible that happened especially with heat causing fuel expansion. I’ve never overflowed the tank but it’s been pretty full before.

Got the V2 back from the dealer. They removed the charcoal canister (which had fuel dripping from it) and want me to ride it for about a month and see if that was the cause. No telling if the fuel was too full and expanded into the filter or if maybe they dislodged or pinched a hose when they did the oil change last month. I'm betting they won't ever admit if they caused it. Luckily it falls under warranty so no cost to me. The next several days are forecasted to be very un-Hawaiian (cloudy and rainy) so once we get some hot weather again, I'll know if it's been resolved.

Has anyone that has removed the canister noticed extra fuel odor? Just curious what to expect.

I have removed the canister from all my Ducati's (Monster 1200s, 1299, and Streetfighter V4s) because I found that they have caused starting issues. When I removed them, I have always routed the lines into the overflow. If you have a full tank and it is hot or there is pressure buildup in tank, you will see/smell fuel. I have sometimes noticed that I have a small fuel stain under front of bikes on hot days from fuel dripping from overflow...freaked me out at first, but quickly realized what had happened. It is better than too much pressure buildup in tank.

I don't really smell fuel due to canister being removed. I do however smell fuel when bike is running hot. The race evo tune dumps fuel on my 1199 with race exhaust and my garage will smell strongly of fuel if i pull in while it is showing over 190-200 F coolant temps. I have no catalytic converter. People riding behind me will say the same if the group ride is slower in the summer heat.

Not the same but similiar; I've had it stall on me a few times whilst riding, while changing gears or clutching in to stop.

Once it stalled after starting/idling for ~2 mins - I didn't touch the throttle (I was doing some stuff on my phone). It's going in for first service next week so I'll mention it and see what they say...

Interesting comments on the engine cut out problem. I had one during completed a tight U Turn with disastrous results. I dropped my baby, thankfully no damage. Going into serice next week and I will be very firm with getting to the bottom of the issue and will post

Holy crap your leg saved ur bike thats insane. My buddy dropped his V4 in the garage and it was totaled. Scratched swingarm, scratched tank, ruined plastics

good luck getting to the bottom. My 1299 stopped having stalling issues once the evap canister was removed

Holy crap. What was the damage estimate?

I'm sure the insurance company just pays him out then auctions the bike to recover what they can.

Gas tank was over $3500, same with the swingarm. I think the plastics were abt that. Plus the cost of labor. I guess the high premium for insurance is reasonable as long as they will pay out

Now that fancy titanium/carbon swing arm cover is looking more appealing to me

Wow, didn't realise how lucky I was with the bike..Lots of spinach and 110kgs saved the day ;)

I know they don't refinish bike parts, only replace them. Between the tank and swingarm, yikes. Imagine frame damage, even if its cosmetic.
