Last weekend I tackled installing the FM Projects exhaust. The design is definitely unique compared to Akra and Termis. Tail looks clean without heat shield.

I wonder if there is an alternative plate mounting system to keep the tail completely clean.

Overall is was a bit of a task. Hardest part was removing the heat shield, some of the screws are hard to get to. Some of the exhaust bolts were also tough to get to close to the rear wheel. Would have been easier removing the wheel, but I opted to compromise and make a tool :)

I did learn the stock exhaust is quite heavy and the servo motor also has a bit of heft when removed.

I took many pics, it was an exciting endeavor. I took it for a short spin, can't tell if the heat is less or more. Will take more pics once everything is back in place.

On to the pics:

Sweet! How about some pics of it all buttoned up? Curious to see an FM on a Stealth Pan.

Installed some heat wrap on lower pipe as an extra precaution. Will be buttoning up everything this weekend. Took for a spin yesterday sounds good, heat more or less the same.

Thanks for posting!

I saw this system on Bellisimoto and wondered why the Ducati, Termi and Akra systems all have the U bend under the seat when this doesn't. Any reason why we couldn't replace the U bend with the shorter pipe seen here?
Shorter pipe = less surface area = less heat radiated?

Sounds mean. How much louder is it than stock? And what are you using for fuel mapping?

Edit: Found info on their site regarding sound (below), but would still like to hear your subjective remarks about how much louder it is at idle, under normal riding and WOT.

The volume can be adjusted by the customer by means of respectively 2 different, supplied dB killer (D = 32mm or D = 40mm). Furthermore, yet each with 2 additional mesh inserts (D = 51mm or D = 59mm) included. Here the determined by the manufacturer stationary noise values with the various included dB killer, measured with a new, not yet retracted complete system: 32 mm dB-killer = 105 dB at 5000 U / min. with 40 mm dB-killer = 108 dB at 5000 U / min. Fully open = 110 dB at 5000 U / min. according to the manufacturer's facility is to about 300 km to ca .. 2 dB quieter Tip: by means of the large mesh inserts in conjunction with the 40 mm db-killers the volume can be limited to about 107 db according to the manufacturer for the racetrack (eg Superstock 1000 series).

At 7.6kg. I believe it's lighter than the Termi full system, but slightly heavier than the 6.5kg Akra full system.

Without db killers it's loud. I haven't had other exhausts to compare sounds but definitely louder than stock. With the smallest db it sounds about same as stocks it started better it seems without the exhaust valve. This is a 2-2 system vs the 2-1-2 for others. Haven't had any issues yet with stock mapping. But thinking of getting tuneboy to try out

All buttoned up. Only issues I had was right heel guard was too close to pipe. I put some washers to push out a bit. The lower pipe is quite close to plastic so I wrapped it and out heat reflective material on the back of lower fairing

That looks superb. I love how it cleans up the rear end of the bike.
