Fogging

Damn, they still have the condensation in the gauge. That's a shame

Some level of condensation is acceptable as it will disappear during riding. But fogging in the panigale doesn't disappear after with minutes into riding instead it become progressively worse till it covers the entire display panel.

Of all the dash replacement folks"¦

When they installed it, did they sync your old milage to the new dash ? I am getting conflicting answers on this. Some say the new dash will have totally different milage, some say the bike stores the total miles on it and it resets the new dash at 7 miles.

Answers ?

Third dash has been ordered for mine. So I've had 2 replacements already. Mileage is not transferred. it is like the bike is new again redline indications and all. The first two were for melting and condensation. this one was strictly for condensation. It gets so bad that I cant see anything when the sun hits the screen. 2013 1199R.

I'm guessing they fixed the issue for the 1299. I've never encountered any fogging.

It's not as humid here as it is in Orlando, which has to be the most humid place on earth, but the air still gets plenty wet during the summer.

Well, mine got replaced, and a few days ago they retracted what I was initially advised and told me that now it cannot be sync'ed to the original milage. To say I am significantly pissed off is an understatement. Today they asked DNA if they would warranty putting the original dash back in, because the dealer won't absorb the cost, I am waiting for word.

I am trying to fathom whats worse, the occasional fogging, or the massive loss in resale value with the odometer NOT matching the actual milage. Who the hell would buy a bike with odometer issues ?? Not to mention if the DMV gets word of this and decides to make my title say "not actual milage" when I sell it. I can already envision the lawsuit there.

This SUCKS.

I haven't looked into it but the total milage is probably stored in the ecu or bbs. Newer cars store milage in the ecu as well as the cluster and other modules for fraud protection. Newer cars won't start if a new ecu is installed and the data is not transfered over. Dealers in the us are required to file odometer modification paperwork with the dmv if the milage cannot be transfered. Does it get done/do dealers know the rules.... it's up to them really.
Pssst....I got a 1199R with 4 miles for sale......hahahahahHa....what a bunch of italian crap.

Yeah, allegedly it was stored in the BBS and the dash. Now I am learning that the milage is stored native to the dash only. The dealer is really trying to do the right thing, and help me, but Ducati will have the final say so here. Everything that has gone wrong on this bike the dealer and DNA has completely fixed properly, so I hope they have a solution to this.

I have read other places that Italy can send an email with specific milage instructions for the BBS/new dash to be written correctly, in the form of an email attachment. I read it searching for people with this problem, on other board. I relayed that to my dealer today, and they are going to ask Ducati about it.

I'll keep updating.

Hey NOLA...would you keep me updated if they are able to set the milage of the new cluster? I'm taking mine in for the 3rd replacment when I get back from saudi and it would be nice to know if it can be done.

Mileage is settable on the 1299/pani R clocks for sure. I had a new set fitted a month or so ago as part of a fault tracing exercise and miles were exactly the same as before.
Had to reset clock/calendar stuff and lost lap timer data.

Is the dash permanently sealed? Or is it bolted together? I would like to try and put a packet of desiccant in the dash.

I think that's just the new bikes that do it automatically 2015 and maybe 2014 mine is a 2013R. The first 2 clusters came back with mile 0 after replacement

On my 1299S I bought crashed, came with zero miles new dash in the box, just taken to dealer and he just plugged it into system and 15 minutes later my new dash had the original mileage back on it from the bike.

Might be even quicker to do, because he had to read then clear some old saved fault codes for me and even cleared the pin code so can put my own one in ;)

He needed paperwork/frame/vin no. for the bike, for the system.
