So after a few years playing around with the Tuneboy system and the highs and lows it brings, I finally cut my loses and ordered a Rapidbike RACE with the new QS system.
Install
I followed a few threads and installed the main module on the left radiator duct like so many before. Rest of the loom install was easy. I removed the right side electronics panel to help with install to make it as clean as possible. I reflashed the ECU for just the Tuneboy Cruise Only Tune. If I kept the full Tuneboy flash I would have to run new power feeds to the o2 sensors.
At the same time I removed the EGR system and installed block off plates.
The Auto Blipper doesnt leave much choice in install location. The QS Loom runs back to the RB module so looking back I would of installed these together at same time instead of separated runs.
Only little pet hate with this one is the QS sensor plug is separated from the main QS loom and plugs is located in the middle of the bike (radiator area) RB should of Keep this with the main loom all the way with the other connectors and the lenght of the sensor cable you could have done a tidier route and lost the slack that way. The load cell had one thread which needed to be chased as it had a small burr at the start.
Setup
Mainly for QS unit. You have to unpload the config file for your bike, check the load cell readings for rest and while selecting gear, select direction for upshift (pull or push depending on normal or GP shift) and click apply changes.
RB module I only check the status window to make sure everything was reading correct before first ride.
I reflashed the ECU for just the Tuneboy Cruise Only Tune.
First Ride
The first 20kms it doesnt feel much different, after this the low speed 3-4500rpm range started to become much much smoother.
The mid range hit was alot more.
I didnt get to high up in the range as was in the city.
The Upshift - was very smooth. I had to adjust the start RPM point and the sensitivity for my liking.
The Downshift - Man this is what Tuneboy should of been from the start!
No lurching, no harshness, just sweet smooth downshifts. I Did some high rpm downshifting to a set of lights and was such a nice sound and feeling.
I might play with sensitivity again at some point.
Tuneboy Cruise Control works perfect with RB. even shifting! ("look ma no hands")
So After around 70kms im very very happy with this setup now. The amount of effort I put into trying to get the TB to work how it should and the dealing with Wayne all while at lease supporting has products to others has left me with a bit of regret I waited so long to go the RB route.
