Gloves

I've had the Handroids for a little over a year now, and have been very happy with them. No issues, and they surprisingly vent pretty well considering the level of protection incorporated into the design (I recommend liners for winter temperatures). There are several great options out there, but I'm not sure anything at this price point offers a level of protection surpassing the Handroid's scaphoid protection system and live exoskeleton. The Boa lacing system, overall comfort, and excellent sense of touch provided through the Kangaroo leather in high-contact areas are just added benefits.

Helimot

Helimot European - has great gloves. The best I have used and crashed wearing. They are incredibly strong and extremely comfortable. Helimot actually started many years ago importing Held gloves. Then they started making their own and now it is their main product. They export gloves to Germany now - ironic?

+1 on Held ; when I crashed into a guard rail the seam of my Dainese Jacket tore open; the Held Phantom just had a few scratches on the carbon protector. (hand was squashed between clip on and guard rail)

Wow. Just noticed on their page Helmut has decided to leave the custom race leathers business and concentrate on gloves. Too bad, I suppose. I had mine made by him about 20 yrs ago. Still got 'em. Survived all kinds of get-offs and that suit never failed. I hear his gloves are the same.

Held vs Helimot

I have several pairs of Held gloves. Great gloves - in my opinion the best all around glove. I use Held for extreme cold and wet conditions. I have crashed in them and they have always protected me.

Helimot track and summer gloves are better. Helimot will tailor them to fit better than any off the rack fit. They are almost indestructible. His newest gloves work in hot and cool temps. They are the best gloves I have ever owned.

It is a bummer he is going to stop making suits in Oct.

I had a pair of Alpinestar gloves way back around 2000. Wrecked at Roebling Road racing and they came apart like a grenade. Got a second pair, and before practice was over at Daytona, I wore a small hole in the palm. Just junk! My Held gloves were tough. Held really can take a beating. However, in the summer heat, due to the thickness, they are bulky and hot. But-Held makes really good gloves. I've had 3 pair of Kushitani gloves. Thin, lightweight and comfortable. Wrecked 2 or 3 times in a pair of Kushitani's with long slides off the track. The Kushitanis never burnt or ground through. Got a free pair of top of the line RS Taichi gloves. They are made in China and they come apart in the stitching in the fingers. I tucked the front end in turn 13 at Jennings GP and the fingers came apart. The RS Taichi suits made in Japan are unreal awesome. But, the gloves are made in China so don't waste your money. I now have a new pair of Kushitani gloves and a pair of gloves made by RACER. Both the Kushitani and RACER gloves have kangaroo, Kevlar and the stitching is top notch. Always look at the stitching around the fingers. If it's on the outside, it has a greater chance to unravel when you wreck and start sliding. I've never owned Dainese gloves but if they are made like the top of the line Dainese suits, you're in business.

Yep the Alpine Stars are crap . I have two high speed crashes in my Rucondis and have never worn through great protection I wouldn't put my hands in anything else .
Most of all they are the most comfortable gloves I have ever worn . Jesus would wear Ricondis if he was still alive .

I agree. A* GP gloves are ..... I dont want my precious cock beaters going in those. The finger bridge might prevent pinky injury but its not comfortable to me at all. What good is it anyway if the gloves fray and come apart in less than 3 months of ride/track time?

Im going to do a review on the Ricondi's once I get them.

I own the following:

Dainese Full Metal Racer
Heroic SPR something
Knox - whatever the skeleton one posted above is
RS Taichi GP Evo

Crashed in all of them. All of them have held up amazingly. If I just had one to go with, it would be the RS Taichi's. They license the Knox sliders, but are built to perfection IMHO. Can't really lose with any. They all fit differently though.

Did own the high end Alpinestars at one point, but tossed them as they were falling apart and I didn't even crash in them. Should also be noted that the Heroic threading came apart in a finger. I had them resewn locally for ten bucks with different thread. It's my understanding that Heroic uses a different thread now. I still trust them 100%, but generally wear the RS Taichi's or Knox due to the palm sliders.

+1 for the RS Taichi GP Evo's. Pleased to say I haven't crash tested 'em, but they are great on the bike; by far the best comfort/control to protection ratio I've found in a race gauntlet, and I've tried quite a few. They've recently made some updates to it, so the older version can be had for about $50 off if you're looking to save a few $.
