Gloves

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Just bought MMC's size 9 post my review next week on them.. I can actually compare them to the A* Gp Pros and Knox Handroids. Can't wait..

I don't understand why there is a need to put metal in the gloves these days. I find it silly and somewhat annoying in a my-pickup-truck-has-a-spoiler sort of way.

My favorite gloves are the original Held Phantom gloves, which thankfully didn't have any of that titanium nonsense in it. I wish they still made them. I spend as much money keeping mine repaired as I would on a new pair just because I love them so, and there is no modern equivalent I've found (though those Ricondi's look interesting).

The Held Phantom (original, not II) gloves:

Gloves usually last a while, so when you are researching for new gloves, remember that advancements are being made all the time towards better safety.

A good glove should above all, provide best safety. Looks at crash footage from any series, CCS or Motogp, its the rider's hand that eventually make contact with the ground/asphalt, almost every time.

Research the No 1 hand injury, we are talking distal radius or Carpal bone fracture, buy a glove that claims (and hopefully a proven claim) to help protect against those fractures.

definitely dainese full metal d1, either astars or dainese provide the best quality gloves

Found an awesome deal on these gloves from motoin.de
Retails for $400 and got a pair for $278 shipped. My A* GP Pro gloves came apart about an inch between the thumb and index finger stitching and it will be my last pair of A*. These held evo titan gloves are awesome!! Bunch of different colors available and crazy amount of support. And they're comfortable!

I've crash tested both Dainese Full Metal and Held Titans.

I now wear Held Titans.

The Dainese provided good protection but were done after one crash.

The Held provided excellent protection and were still ok after 2 crashes.

Another one for the Knox Handroids. I had a bad crash back in 2009 that resulted in several broken bones in my wrist, along with a shattered Scaphoid. I was wearing the Alpinestars GP-Tech gloves that didn't have any sliders in the palms. I landed on my palms and all of the impact was absorbed by my wrist.

After that, I went searching for the best protection on the market and every search led me to the Handroids. I have been racing in them ever since (and have crashed tested them) with great results. Not a single hand/wrist injury since.

And the kangaroo palm provides great feel.

For the street, I really like the ORSA gloves. They have great protection, are really comfortable and they also have the sliders in the palms.

I've got to say I like the Ricondis I bought from MMC almost as much as I like my Knox Handroids. I am going to run them on the track on the 20th and report back but so far not one single complaint.

Just to add a cosign for the Racer and Kushitani brands.

I have a pair of crappy Alpine Stars that I refuse to wear after trying these two relatively obscure brands

These gloves have the two features that are must haves for me: Palm Sliders and Kangaroo Leather in the areas that need more abrasion resistance.

My other gloves are these amazing Kushitani K5147 GPR 6 Gloves

Some of the best quality gloves I've ever owned, all day comfortable and Kangaroo leather on the palm. If you are ever in LA, stop by their store in Marina Del Ray near Deus Ex. Mike is the best guy ever and you can see some of their retired racing leathers, many of which have been worn by some of the greats, on display while you shop.

Hi all,

Just wanted to add my .02 cents on hand protection.

These two gloves:

The RACER R-Safe Gloves

and the Kushitani GPR6

both have good palm protection, which is a major factor when choosing gloves.

Like most folks, I bought a pair of Alpinestars and used them until they started to fall apart.

Heroics for the track. Excellent fit and more importantly FEEL. Way better feel than Tecknic, Alpinestars, Dainese. On parallel with Held in my opinion.

Have the Handroids V14 and have crashed in them.. they hold up well but I now the stitching is coming apart...

I guess I should try Smarty's brand as Wilkinson has promulgated..

^^ Why may I ask?

I ran them on the track like them way better than the A* Gp Pro's and Knox Hnadroids... Only one tiny thing.. How large are the wrists of Aussies.. The wrist strap I cannot latch it tight at all ..
