Why? From the sounds of it you came out unscathed, thankfully. Do the risks outweigh the benefits? Are you a husband, father, and provider? Is it the financial loss of your track bike? I don't question your decision, but I'm always interested to hear what factors influence a riders decision to quit doing what they love as I fear one day I will be faced with the same choice. For what it's worth I'm sorry as I'm sure the realization of priorities and subsequent consequences is a greater emotional and mental burden than the wreck itself.

Wilkson, whatever makes you happy.. Sometime enough is enough, and other times.... you may change your mind, I've enjoyed your posts, please keep them coming.

Thanks guys . I am not going to give up bikes all together just racing .
I don't think I can push myself with risk of injury anymore . I have two high speed offs recently and don't care for another to be honest .

Very happy you are okay, can understand getting out of racing. On that note, are you running with TC?

Glad your ok. High sides, especially high speed high sides suck!

Give it a few months before you decide. I ate it really bad many years ago (high side), and I stopped playing on the track. It took 7 years before I road on the track again, and I regret it.

I've once again taken a break (move, job change), but I'll be back out there soon. Give it some time Brother.

I wise man knows his limitations. Best of Luck.

Glad your okay like others I too enjoy your posts it takes a lot to admit your getting to old for racing. Keep the track days going mate.

That's rough Wilkson. Sorry to hear it.

I can sympathize. I had to make the same call one day.

You may leave racing but it will never leave you.

Sorry to hear Wilks.. both on your crash and your retirement
from racing.. I think I speak for the whole forum as to how much
we enjoy your posts... Perhaps time will heal your body and change your
mind??

Good to read you're good and in one piece! DTC2 is not enough sometimes...

Best of luck with whatever decision you take!

Sorry about the high side. Hope you feel better soon. Glad to hear your not giving it up completely.

Racing is rough when it becomes the only focus. Once I began chasing lap times only, the fun stopped. It actually took my wife to suggest that I switch off the DDA and just ride, as she saw I was getting more frustrated than having fun. Did that and started having fun again. Of course like all things the DDA went back on the bike after a while....lol.

Hope it is the same for you. Free ride for a while and when its the right time you'll know :)

Please keep posting though, I'd miss seeing you on the forum.

Hate to see you go out like this.

I will always be glad to have you as a street hooligan out carving canyons after the R rebuild.

Your safety and your family comes first no doubt...
A very humbling and selfless act to walk away from something that you love so much...

Don't make any hasty conclusions just yet about retiring from racing.... time heals all and gives a new and fresh prospectus..plus your'e a strong .... and some of your best years of racing may still be ahead of you..

Best wishes

I can totally understand, Wilks. I was in the same boat. The R is a fantastic bike but my wife and kids think it is not a good plan anymore. My 9 year old son does great in karting and all my time will go into that now. He will do the Dutch national championship four stroke Cadet and later this year upgrades to a Tonykart with Rotax Max two stroke. The real thing he says. And I still have my Shelby to do trackdays. Full rollcage in there now.

Thanks. I've had some lurid slides that were saved by TC (2/3) at full lean on the track. I keep pushing it because it seems to work so ....... well, but I've also felt like one of these times....thanks for the reminder to ease off a little.

I will wager that within 4 months you'll be back on the track, though....:)
