Heat ;)

guess sitting on a high output engine generates heat no matter what label is on the bike
As i have said numerous times GO FASTER.

It's a slow night on the forum, just having some fun - given that heat is such a big topic here it was funny to see this thread on the Beemer site.

Too bad Jeffs didn't buy a Panigale. His posts seem well thought out and helpful. We could use him over here. I wonder if he and Frosty can trade bikes?

I still don't understand why I get hot sitting on a bike and straddling a 1198cc internal combustion engine?

Fuel and air are burned together in a combustion engine and the process releases the energy in the fuel. The fuel/air mixture heats up and the resulting pressure activates the pistons which drive the engine and the vehicle. However, a large proportion of the energy present in the fuel is lost in the form of heat so it is not available to power the drive.

When so much energy is lost without being used, why not build an engine that does not produce waste heat but uses the full energy of the fuel to power the vehicle? The answer is quite simple: it does not work. Nature puts a spoke in the engineers’ wheel here. In order to work, a combustion engine has to give off heat to its surroundings, i.e. to the coolant or the exhaust gas.

Ohhhh

Funny how the Beemers are like us, some feel the heat, some don't. (cough - because there isn't any)

And how some of them are helpful and some of them are just plain dipshits. I'm a forum junkie and have been for about 12 years. I'm on lots of car and motorcycle forums every day (damn that day job!). I never get tired of seeing how judgmental some folks can be on forums.

+1

As an ex-S1KRR owner, I can confirm---.... be hot at times:D. Pani and S1 both hate stand still traffic and both throw hissy fits if the pace is below 30mphs.

The HP4 seems to have relocated the heat tho. Frame doesn't get as warm as my 2011 used to. But now its like a dry Texas breeze on a 95 º day blowing across my feet and shins.

And yeah I'm one of those judgemental bastards :D

I've definitely noticed this, I got stuck behind a truck carrying a wide load down a two lane road, unable to pass and my temps stayed around 210 most of the time since we never went above 25, I had to hold my legs away from the tank to cool them down.

Not to beat a dead horse, but.... Finally got some 90 degree commutes in on mine (2013 so I haven't owned it in the summer) and the heat is pretty ridiculous. I'll be doing the heat mods.

I have the new shield.... Don't hold your breath... its still hot...

*sigh* The dudes complaining about the heat weren't joking. I've been commuting on it all week (temps up to low 90s) and it is ridiculous when you go from highway speeds down to 30-40 mph with a little stop and go mixed in. I got up to 221 yesterday and had to hold my legs off the bike.

i am so happy that the warm weather is back, the heating function under the seat was just insufficient at low temperatures...

Want some cheese?
