I like that the white has that matte black carbon section at the rear. I don't know if I want to be an early adopter though.

Ordered the gloss Team design to try as I got an email notification of stock being available and a discount code to help.

I fancy the look of this and I’ll be interested to see what it’s like and how the fit is. If it gives the visibility of my Pista GP RR and anywhere close to the comfort of my X-Spirit then I’ll be very happy (probably asking too much but I should find out in a couple of days).

My Shoei is relegated to road duties and the Pista is for track, but it is a bit snug on the forehead, although I only notice this when I put it on and never notice it when riding on track - I don’t notice the helmet at all when on track, so it’s fine but not perfect.

Helmet received but I can’t get it on my head (ordered M as I measured just under 58cm so I’ll need to try L - no idea when that will be available).

It looks nice though.

My Arai RX7 RC arrived today. Fantastic bit of kit. The carbon is perfectly laid and it feels ultra-premium in fit and finish. Couldn’t believe Motoin.de actually fulfilled the order considering the incredible Black Friday deal (30% off). They seem to never go on sale. Also, no customs duty or tax so thanks Joe Biden!

Size small. Weighs 1380 g which is 220 g (0.5 lb) lighter than the regular RX-7 (not Evo)

Nice helmet. No more dwarf comments that's a size small therefore...

When I got my Shark Helmet and tried to put it on the 1st time I thought there is no ....... way that’s fitting on my head…took a few minutes, and set myself to FORCE it on, it actually hurt lol

But when it was on it suddenly made sense, fits very snugly exactly the way a track helmet should to be stable at speed…still to this day it’s uncomfortable to put on and off, but once on and settled into position it’s the best on track helmet I ever used.

Yours may be like that too if you measured your head right…so just get in there man, suck it up and force your noggin in there and then see how it fits lol

I’m also a 58cm head, maybe 57.5 if the tape is very tight, and the Medium while hard to put on and off in a track helmet fits exactly right FOR TRACK on.

You want to minimize the inputs from the helmet on track, meaning visually it’s not giving you input and blocking your view, and if it’s too loose it gives you input by moving too much at speed. The tighter it is on your head the better in moves through the air with less input from the helmet, so it’s good to wear it as tight as possible when ON THE HEAD without it being uncomfortable to the point where that becomes an input.

The helmets do break in too

I’ve probably got $5000 worth of helmets in my garage that are useless because I bought them based on how comfortable they were to take on and off and while standing looking in a mirror or something. But they are all too big for on track, causing input from the helmet…comfortable off track usually means too loose on track so you become aware of the helmet…whereas uncomfortable off track because of its size (not shape that’s a different story) is much more comfortable on track because the helmet disappears.

My Pista GP RR was a bit like that - very tight to get on but ok to wear, but I could get my head in it from new. I do remember it took a bit of effort though. That was the old size M/S, which is for 57-58cm - that’s the same as the M is supposed to be in this helmet.
I’ll have another look but I’m not sure it will actually go on. You’d think it should though. If I don’t post anything for a while it will be because I’m at the hospital having it removed from my head…

Keep a dremel close by with a few small discs, what could go wrong 😂😂😂

Tight means quiet also. Nothing worst than a loose helmet at speed. I wasn't sure I'd like the paint on your bike but now that it's done very nice.

I checked my Shoei and AGV and both were for size 57-58cm… I said to my girlfriend ‘this really should bloody fit’, to which she responded ‘I still don’t care and I still don’t understand why you need another helmet’…

Anyway, I tried my AGV on (not worn it for months - feels like years) and it was a tight squeeze, so I gave the new one another go as suggested. It’s perfect once on - after using it a few times I expect it will be similar to the AGV in terms of getting it on but it fits more like my Shoei X-Spirit - snug enough to bite your cheeks easily but really comfortable and no pressure points around my head. I think it’s a winner.

It took me half a day a 3 or 4 tries to really commit to getting my Shark on the 1st time lol

We are so used to mass consumables that it’s hard to adjust that if something isn’t comfortable and easy the very first try that it must be wrong somehow…I think on track you’re gunna love that fit.

How’s the visibility in that thing compared to the AGV?

I always do the same test when I get a new helmet, I’ll lay down on the floor in the same spot and crane my neck up as high as I can, sort mimicking the looking up motion of the tuck position, then find a mark on the wall ahead of my that’s the highest spot I can see vertically. And compare which helmet has the biggest vertical viewing window. i.e. which one can i see the highest on the wall with.

The AGV was the winner of that until i got the Soumy, it has a slightly better vertical sight window than the AGV, , the Shark is slightly less than both of those but not by much, and that’s the helmet I grab to take to the track every time now, because the tighter fit and the stability of that and the overall design outpaces the slightly smaller sight window.

I’d simply forgotten how tight my other helmets are to get on and off - it’s been that long since I’ve ridden… 🤣

I’ve just done a quick comparison and I certainly don’t think the A* has less vertical field of vision - possibly a fraction more but definitely not less.

Comparing the AGV with the Shoei, I preferred the comfort of the Shoei but much preferred the vision of the AGV, so that was the winner for track use and the Shoei is for road use. The A* seems like it might be the best of both worlds. It feels very much like the Shoei in terms of comfort but the field of vision is excellent. Padding on the cheeks is nice, face suitably squished, no pressure points around the head (I can feel the AGV at the front but don’t notice it when riding).

It came with a nice bag and both clear and tinted visors as well.

I have been finding that my AGV was fogging up toward the end of the day - it could be because of leaving it in the garage during the day, fumes, etc, on the visor, but I’m looking forward to seeing how the ventilation is on the A*.

It will be interesting to see how it is on track and how the padding holds up. I expect it will end up about the same as the Shoei and AGV to put on - it’s marginally tighter to get over my head at the moment but it’s new of course.

It seems like it’s very nicely made and now I’ve managed to get it on my head (and thankfully off again) I am very, very pleased with it. Obviously I can’t recommend it until I’ve actually used it but so far so good.
