It’s got a light on the back. 👍

Yeah a cool little rain light.

Bagger they don’t have the Homologation to even register it on the street, but that’s kind of the point of it, build a ground up track bike with no concessions made in any part of the design or build for street use…in that regard it’s superior to an SBK bike on paper, which is turned into a track bike from a street bike platform…though in real life those professionally WSBK bikes are certainly better setup (possibly) for going fast around a track than my Kramer.

Ok so low wattage lights. The WSBK will be faster down the straights not around the corners. Physics always wins. If I painted it red and put ducati decals on it I could ride on the street. I've had a few tickets, used to get them every 18 mo's like clockwork (then I left California) not a single one ever looked at the VIN. You'll have fun on that. Downhill in squid canyon nobodies coming by not matter what they're riding.

I’ll update my thoughts on the A* helmet, having tried it on a few more times.

It’s vertical visibility is not more than the Pista GP RR, but if it’s less then it’s not by much at all. It’s got far more than my Shoei X-Spirit and immediately noticeable (I have the model prior to the newest one).

The A* is far more comfortable than the Pista and perhaps similar to, or a little bit more comfortable than, the Shoei (it’s certainly not less comfortable). The visor mechanism is easy to use and it works well.

So, great visibility, very comfortable and a quality bit of kit. I can’t wait to get it on track.

Hurry up summer… I’ll even accept Spring if I have to, but winter can bugger off. 🫣

Funny story, a cop pulled up next to me in a parking lot with me sitting on the unregistered track Gixxer once, had the Ducati plate in my jacket pocket, asked me if I was about to ride that without a plate, told him the bracket fell off so I was just heading home. He ran the plate through the system and let me go, just said be careful and go straight home. The Gixxer has grey unpainted track fairings lol

When I was young they were certainly perceived as being the best. These days I wouldn’t say that and I’d never go back to Arai having tried Shoei, AGV and now Alpinestars. For track use, and maybe road use as well, Arai are the bottom of that list for me. 🤷‍♂️

I've only ever owned one Arai. Took it brand new to the races. Crashed in my first race (I'd typically run 2 or 3). Not a mark on it. Tech guys cut the straps off anyway.

Basically, only Arai for me, till my last Nolan.
Next could be an A-Star or another Nolan

Update

during the 2024 shakedown at Vallelunga track, with Pirro, I had a chance to try hos new helmet.
The KABUTO F17.
I have never heard of this brand before and I was very skeptical.
Well, I had to change my mind.
It is a little on the heavy side, but it is very well insulated, both from noise and from heat ( it was not a hot day, so I will postpone the final thought on the ventilation).
The shape is quite rounded, reminds me of the Arai, that I much love, has the MIPS system, that has become a MUST for me and very good shield system.

Here are some pictures of the #51 livery

Pirro's last year crash in the last race, got me concerned about rotational injury.
I have MIPS on my Enduro Bike's helmet, just because of this.

My new S-Works Prevail also has it and probably wouldn’t buy another push bike helmet without it. I’ve broken a fair share of bike and moto helmets over the years so unfortunately I have “practical experience” in this area haha. Only downside I can see is that it adds a little weight (every gram counts when you’re on the bike for multiple hours) and it can impede ventilation . The research is there that it’s safer

I tried the A* helmet for the first time today. It’s brilliant. Excellent visibility, very comfortable and the ventilation is superb – you can feel breeze around your head.

Highly recommended!

Waiting for a large A* to show up at my dealership, most likely May ☹️. Glad to hear you like it.

Fun feedback hanging around pro-racers, the comment on my current “top line” helmet was that if I wasn’t being paid to wear it…don’t. Experiences with multiple concussions gave them a negative view of my choice. Not saying they wouldn’t have had a concussion with other brands…just interesting to hear feedback.

Remind me what you have?

How is fogging? I wonder how rain sealing is? I saw Martin having to tape his shield in the rain session at Qatar
