HELP! Need another bike!

Triumph Speed Triple.

because....
Triumph makes great triples. And it's setup for long(er) distance. Planning on getting one in the next year to replace my (aging) Triumph Sprint (also a triple).

That is my combo. It works well; but I too would like something like the 690 Duke for urban errands, etc.

You have my attention......how much??

How about an 1199 ABS (base model)? I know a guy (who looks a lot like me) who'd sell you one only mildly used.

I found a used "R" for sale and need to move this one first. ;)

$15k as it sits. $14k if I reinstall the OE tail light, mirrors, seat, and foot pegs. I have the original heat shield on the bike, but I also have the retrofit kit supplied under warranty with the larger exhaust pipe shield and the supplementary head heat shields (now supplied as OE).

I love my 2004 Moto Guzzi V11 Sport Balibio, it is relaxing, smooth, very comfortable, and on some of the roads I like to ride I'll race anyone, on anything with it. 140 mph down hill with a tail wind is it's max, so the power is underwhelming but it more than makes up for it with handleing. I used to road race V7's and LeMans many years ago so I have a soft spot for these Italian tractors.

My riding partner does a 2010 guzi sport. Imported into the states.

I followed him all over Ca on that bike. Rides really nice and hard to keep up with.

Did get away from him on slippery pavement with my softer tires.

With the 1199 he cant get away from me ever. ;) due to the better suspension then my 848 had

I have a 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 that I highly recommend. It is fast, sporty, but very comfortable to ride. It also has the advantage of Japanese reliability. Mine has a full Akrapovic and PCV and puts out 140 hp on dyno (same dyno a week earlier bone stock was 123). I easily put 350 miles most Saturdays on this bike in complete comfort.

I love my Ninja 300, probably the most fun in-town bike I've ridden in a long time. With a race exhaust on it, it SOUNDS like you're going 3 times the speed limit, all of the cars are terrified of you, and in reality you're going 5 over and the cops radar you but have nothing to pull you over for! :D I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a sport bike but has too many points on their license already......

Indeed about the 300. Every time I look up at some loud ass motorcycle approaching, I try n guess what bike they are. Whenever I see a ninja 300 roll up, I'm always thrown off in a "WTF?" confusion. Does sound a hell of a lot more aggressive than it is lol. Not sure I'd ever buy one though.

Well, mine's a track bike with Ohlins suspension, Marchesini forged wheels Brembo brakes, built engine, etc. so kind of like a a mini-me Ducati now.... ;) I actually built it to race Ultralights with, since I don't have any Ducati I can use for that.

I got a BMW R Nine T to go along with the Pani for a jump on and go / commute, etc alternative. It is an absolute joy to ride. The handling is incredible.
I had to put a deposit down and wait ~5 months without knowing what it would be like, but it exceeded my expectations.
It is set up to me modded into many configurations to suit your mood.

Good choice. I really like the rNineT.

If all the hyperbole is correct, turn I plan on getting an 2015 R1 as a stablemate to my 999s

+1

I bought one for the wife and find it to be a very fun and capable little bike. Which exhaust and clip-ons are you running?

Revised list given all your input:

MV F3 Ago
Duc Hyper
Duc Multi Pike
BMW R9T
BMW HP4 Comp
KTm SdukR

Thanks for all your input!

If I could justify it, I'd have one of these.........

But that would have to be one f*cking special pint of milk!!!!!! :D

Pikes Peak Multistrada not so common which is good.

You can't beat the multi for good all round bike and its solo fast because you have the height advantage , stand on the pegs and look ahead and grab all the over take opportunities

that MV is one sexy looking thing
the hypermotard would do too

I am biased on multi no 3 now and a Pikes Peak is calling me.

If you get one you can join us nxt year at tail of the dragon meet

I had exactly the same problem, needed a bike for the blast around town stuff, so bought the 821 Hypermotard and absolutely love it. I even use it for longer distance stuff where the weather looks a bit iffy and it's just fine.

Only issue is wind pressure above 100 mph, and anyone under 5' 10" will struggle as it sits very high (I believe there is a 20mm lower seat option but I don't think it will make enough difference).

I'm gonna try and verbalise my thoughts, as while I also search for a more accessible stable mate for the Tri, I find myself thinking about other aspects of riding a motorcycle.

So, what I'm wondering is how much does "accessibility" to riding simply correlate to how quickly I can just jump on the bike and ride, versus say getting in the car to pop down the shops.

To prep for a squirt on the 1199 = full face helmet + riding jacket + riding jeans + boots + gloves + ruck sack

To prep for a squirt on something "easier" = helmet + riding jacket + riding jeans + boots + gloves + ruck sack

So, my quite possibly largely rhetorical questions..

1) Is the 1199 that hard to ride down the shops?
2) Would I feel happy to suit up any less for a naked, SF or SM?
3) Would I be at any less risk on any bike other than say a 50cc scooter?

..... 4) Or do I just want a 2nd bike :p
