Were they all staring at the front of the bike with a confused look on their face?
I wonder if Kawasakis launch of the Ninja H2 at Intermot will render these discussions moot???
Hi Mark,
Delighted that you got the HP4 and very much looking forward to hearing your feedback. While I have not ridden a HP4, I did get the chance to at least give it the optical once over. Pictures really do not do the HP4 justice, it is a stunning bike. The bike looks "Technical" like some kind of "transformer", love the lines. The Carbon and color scheme really do gel well and as you said full Akra on the bike.
I can't see where you would go wrong with a HP4 and I trust that BMW produce more variations, etc. Having a 1199 *and* HP4 in your stable will bring you a lot of joy.
With all that said I am a big BMW fan and even more so when they released the SK1000RR and more importantly the HP4.
So checked into trading in my 2012 RSV4 Factory on a HP4, new condition, Austin Racing ( ) slip on, few other minor mods, 2500 miles, warranty till next summer.
Guess how much trade in value?
thank you very much . when i get it unrestricted and more seat time i will give a full review not comparing it cause that starts a frenzy. Both bikes give me a huge smile but for the life of me i cant understand the hate on the bmw or any other bike thats not ducati
uh oh you just opened a can of worms with austin racing i believe that was the one that started everything on here. why would somebody change akra for austin i dont know
how much for the trade?
I have about 3,000 miles on my HP4 and had about 2,500 on my Tri-colore before I traded it in.....
They are both AMAZING machines. For the life of me cannot understand the back and forth on this thread.
There is NO BETTER BIKE. It all comes down to personal preferences.... Hell someone may love their KTM RC8, because how it rides & just because it's down on power and doesn't have all the electronics, doesn't make it a bad bike.
It comes down to what you want out of your bike: Looks, sound, power, response, low down torque, street riding, track days, aftermarket parts and etc....
Some people like the HP4 more and some like the 1199 better. Great! You can like them BOTH.... LOL.
I have seen, read and provided a ton of reviews on both bikes.
The HP4 is firm, planted and secure. It goes where it's pointed and the DDC is amazing for street riding. The power band is higher in the rev range and the launch control is FUN as hell... Never did I ever think of launching a bike like that.
The 1199 is one of the most beautiful bikes ever made and I love how light it is. Turns in so easy, took a little bit of effort to get the suspension set up for me, but now that it is, I did not bounce around as much as I used to when I first got it. I love the low end grunt and we all know the Ducati twins sounds is the best....
Is one better than the other? Maybe. Maybe not. Depends what matters to you & what you are looking for.
You cannot go wrong with either one, which is why I feel very fortunate to have both.
Hell, I'm going for a ride right now..... Buy what you want people and what puts a smile on your face.
Brad-
im not going to address everything you said because honestly i didnt read it all. calling bmw crap really? have you seen QC on ducati? ask white pani how many oil leaks he had. how many times his bikes were in service. how many times mine was in service. you are a ducatisti (nothing wrong with that my friend is one) and no matter what i say or what proof i give you it wouldnt matter. if i said it were raining you would so no its not. thats how ducatisti are defend the brand no matter what. nothing wrong with that but denial isnt just a river in africa. yes the bmw is heavier but just as fast if not faster so who cares there.
why i am writing this is because of your akra comment. akra is a performance company not a tuning company. you are getting a FULL TI race exhaust with the hp4. yes you pay a little more for it but you would be buying it anyway and the hp4 if you get the base is still 10k cheaper than the R. It is in fact better than stock even if it does the exact same thing as stock it is lighter so there is a benefit. all their products are designed to work (and they work well) with STOCK mapping. Call them and ask them if you need a tune. does a tune make it even better yes. do you need one no.
Its pretty sad that you have to sit there and hope there are problems with the bmw to say wait till you have to do this or that. Maybe the BMW is so beautiful it will be a garage queen for me.
then again i doubt that as its the best motorcycle engine ever made.
Mark,
From one S1000 owner to another welcome to the family. Once you get to actually ride the bike past the break in point you will be AMAZED at how fast it truly is. I for one love the headlights I think it makes it unique looking.

It would be way easier for y'all to jerk each other off on that site than on this one"¦Just a suggestion.
