High Beam Headlight Wire - where?

Hi all,

I've finally picked up my 2022 V4s. I've already got to stripping it down to try and fit my 'Flash2Pass' that I had on my 1199.
Flash 2 Pass as a company appears to have folded so you can't buy these things anymore and it's the perfect garage door opening solution so I really want to make it work!

The F2P unit connects to any 12v wire and the company instructions say to attach it to your Headlight high beam so that when you flash the headlights that sends the signal to the receiver which opens the door.

The stealership said they the V4 doesn't have any 12v wires ( how can that be??) so they tried connecting it to the horn (stupid idea as you now wake everyone up when you come and go) but this didn't work.
Does anyone have any ideas? Can I attach it to the highbeam wires on the V4? If so where are they?

Thanks all

I de-soldered the hazard button on my V2 and snaked fresh wires into the stock loom to make my own 12V circuit. It is for future aux lighting.

Junipel makes cloth tape similar to the stock wrap but you'll need to zip or heat shrink the dumb end.

Thanks Thomasmryan for the reply - did you do that to fit a F2P unit too?
I have the cloth tape but don't quite understand what you mean by "snaking wires into the loom '
I do like the idea of using the hazard button though, very smart

The hazard switch seemed kinda stupid on a motorcycle so it was a logical choice to avoid the CAN-bus hex address drama.

Staring at the throttle, I pushed a couple wires through the sleeve, across the top of the radiator then up to the headlight housing along the stock harness. I also ran a fused tap from the battery into the front fairing to supply a relay and the hazard button. It is hidden and where it does show, it looks stock.

Use a high strand count wire as there is some movement. More strands carries less current for the same gage.

No, my intent was to install cornering lighting because I like living. There are no street lights in the Great Smokys just little beady little eyes playing midnight frogger.

Since the hazard is non-momentary, you would have to double tap it for a garage door.

I’m a little lost/special ! I have two wires from my F2P unit that doesn’t require power so could I simply connect these two wires into the two wires that are going into the hazard switch already?

yep but clip or de-solder the actual factory wires at the switch with the battery disconnected. I assumed constant B+ (30) since its a hazard switch.

Leave stock hazard wires in the housing and shrink the ends with adhesive wrap so they are sealed.

Hi beam is the yellow wire at the opposite end of the plug from the white headlight wire. Ground is right next to the highbeam. I don't know if it meets your voltage requirement, you'd have to test it.

Yeah, but they're probably just signal wires though. The just carry a low signal voltage to tell the headlight to turn on the highbeam. Its not like an old car where the highbeam gets a direct +12V when its time to turn on.

I don’t have/can’t find my voltage meter so can’t test if they carry 12v

@thomasmryan

Did your hazard set up, did the wires end up carrying 12v for your intended use ??

I actually never checked the voltage at the hazard switch. I just clipped the stock wires at the switch and soldered on the new wires for a relay in the front fairing.

The Adrino boards use 5v relays. I have a few if you want one but they are not weather proof.
