As an aside, I think this time around instead of Ohlins I’m gonna try the KTech Through Rod stuff.
It’s supposed to be excellent stuff.

The screen on the V4 is definitely nicer than on the Honda. I also like the new DDL set up and the fact it integrates with the screen.

The throttle is better on the Ducati as well. I don’t think there would be any benefit whatsoever to upgrading it.

The Honda did feel small underneath me, which I liked. Then again, the Ducati also feels quite small compared to the previous model, no doubt due to feeling noticeably slimmer.

It is a compact package and seems to have good build quality. Quite a lot for the money, although the wheels would have to go and that would suck up a little bit of the price difference.

Or you could just look at the tensile strength and life index…

Looking at those specs alone are like looking at peak hp numbers alone to assess the usefulness of a bike.

It’s pretty cool that you’re so smart that you really don’t know how much you don’t know and that results in you having no reason to learn anything more.

Do you ride your bike at track?

Even my RC 8C that’s 100 pounds lighter is hard work if you are pushing the pace, by the end of a track day your knackered.

Every couple of seconds that you get faster per lap you are increasing the physical demands of riding these bikes at track, and everything you can do to manage energy expenditure is helpful.

Agreed though that a heavier rotating mass with heavier gyroscopic forces makes the bike feel more stable. This is where preference comes in. Do you prefer to dial in agility and give up some stability, or vice versa.

I prefer agility, especially because you can dial stability back in with a few geometry changes and have both.

Of course I go to the track, but I go for enjoyment and learning so it does not matter to me what the ultimate lap time is or how worn out I am at the end of the day. Am I hitting my apexes is more important to me than the gear. Once you get to a certain point you need coaching and hours on the track to improve, the gear is the same, once you get to a certain level its no longer holding you back.

Fair points, although I would suggest that the less effort required then the more likely that later sessions in the day will be productive. When you start getting tired and your concentration starts going, things can get a bit tricky. I don’t see a reason to make a bike harder to ride than it could be simply by changing to lighter wheels, for example.

Ah. So going out a measuring pin and plate sizes and using your strong background in engineering and metallurgy will give you a better idea. Talk about Dunning-Kruger

If a bike is making you too tired to ride, spend the money to get in better shape not on “upgrades.” Or you’re on too “big” of a bike and would better fit a middleweight or 400. If you feel your concentration going or tired mentally, stop. No shame in that. No need to push in those regards bc pushing through those things doesn’t make you a better rider. Just a less safe one. If I’m not “on” in a session, I immediately bail. Lose the battle, win the war.

Also, thinking that not doing “upgrades” makes the bike harder to ride is the problem right there. If you don’t have confidence in your materiel or yourself, your sunk before you even leave port.

did you vote snowflake ?

Yeah but I nor anyone else here needs a bike setup that can WIN a WSBK race…meaning you can have it ‘in the mix’ with FKR carts. or the FGR 254’s.

Of note, Hayden Gillim finished mid-pack in Superbike races last season while riding a Superstock Spec Fireblade.

Also Superbike Unlimited has a set of WSBK forks for sale right now that are used but recently serviced for $7500. I considered buying them, but the problem is you need custom-made wheel axles and spacers and top and bottom yolks and all that stuff to use them on the fireblade., cool to have, but none of that would make me faster then just putting upgraded carts and rear shock on the bike.

K Tech is good stuff

If I knew snowflake was an option I may have voted differently. I have, unfortunately worked for a couple of different narcissistic sociopaths. The US is having a Dietrich Bonhoeffer moment. Dietrich while describing the thuggery relative to the rise of Hitler and Mussolini made the comment "against stupidity we have no defense". Or as one of the blue collar comics commented "you can't fix stupid". Most of these morons don't realize that Fat Donnie is going to backdoor a VAT tax thru use of tariffs. Once that's done the rich are one step closer to their goal of no income tax.

wise man you are

It makes me laugh that people think there is actually a choice available to them. It has been many decades since I last saw a politician of conviction.

You’ve seen Idiocracy, right? Are we there yet?

The basic problem that everyone's seemed to miss was that the Dobbs decision reversing the national right to an abortion was the first time in US history where a personal right has been taken away. We're on the backside we need to be careful. The stuffing of the supreme court was never actually about Dobbs. It was about the creation of a conservative court that will consistently vote against personal rights versus the right/might of the corporations. Fat Donnie was just their tool. This will remain a problem in America for years. Go back and read Mussolini's speeches. Here we are. Those who never read history are bond to repeat it. I want no part of it. For enhancement of power and greed of an Australian, good old Rupert Murdoch, we may lose American democracy. Sad. As beautiful would say right about now "how about them LA Dodgers".
