I knew going into it that Panigales run hot, but Im not here to complain about getting stuck in traffic, my heat complaint resides when I am on the highway cruising around 75-80mph... my left inner thigh gets hot to the point where I cant stand it and I open my stance on the bike to allow for airflow. Is anyone else experiencing this with their V4? It happens regardless of what riding pants I wear, and the heat when standing still at a light doesnt really bother me, but as I said, it really is uncomfortable to the point of almost not wanting to ride at speed. Im open to resolutions that dont include the typical "only ride it on the track". Thanks in advance.

Oh, and this is in San Diego- so the temp was around 81F outside.

This is normal. Many people reporting same on Daidegas Italian forum.
I suppose it is more frustrating to some people than others. We’re all different.
The hot climate is obviously making it worst.

I believe wearing a extra inner in your pants helps a lot in not transferring the heat.

i have been riding mine 2000 miles so far in northern california some days in 95 degree weather and it major traffic . i have just learned to ride with my legs out about a inch or two . it gets really bad when your balls get so hot you have to get off the bike . :}

It is normal. I think skin in that area gets used to it at some point :)

You get a wide stance? Get some riding jeans. Seriously dude, the heat index last week on the east coast was 100....and we ride. Quit bitching about 81 and no humidity. Now watch that stance.

This is basically it. Some people will tolerate it, some won't.

Bottom line though, you have chosen a 215bhp race derived (when I say derived, I meant they stuck mirrors and turn signals on it) motorcycle. It develops its power from an 'internal combustion engine' meaning heat. The more power, means using more fuel, using more fuel means more combustion, more combustion means more heat.

You have chosen a bike that has possibly the most extreme performance in a production motorcycle and at the same time produces the most heat. I can't see how that is a concept that is so hard to grasp.

Strange how people who buy these bikes complain about this. I don’t notice anything but I always ride in leathers. When I had my akra exhaust system put on I had the mechanic remove those horrible black cylinder covers, the heat still seems fine to me.

And yes we do live in a hot climate.

Cheers

well, putting along at 25 mph do you think you are using more fuel than another bike going 25 mph? Its probably not just the fuel.

What? 600cc vs an 1100cc of course the bigger bike uses more so yes, bigger displacement, more fuel, V4 more cylinders, more bangs per revolution.... look at the catalogue, less mpg, so yes, definitely more fuel consumption!

And if you're putting along at 25, well then there is your heat issue....

Haha, exactly. I think the cylinders even deactivate.

Not sure if it's for feel. The two cylinders at a time fire in unison so you get that feel anyway

The two left-hand cylinders fire first in closer order, followed by the two right-hand cylinders. The crank position of the firing order is Left 0° and 90°, right 290° and 380°.

It fires on the forward two cylinders only (not the ones under the seat) when the clutch is in or it's in neutral in order to help mitigate heat buildup at the seat. Doesn't really help much if you're moving slowly in stop and go traffic, only kind of helps at long red lights.

CNC racing has carbon fiber subframe covers. And unlike the carbon fiber subframe covers that used silicone to glue the carbon subframe covers onto the 1299's. These actually replace the plastic subframe covers with carbon fiber subframe covers. Which will keep that heat down. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM and I will be able to get them for you at price you will be happy with. https://www.cncracing.com/world/duc...e-covers-ducati-panigale-v4--matt-carbon.html

........!

They also have world class engineers at Ducati, and it's unfathomable they can not design something that vents 150 degree heat away from the rider. All it takes is a few well placed heat barriers and proper venting.

I can't help think that to channel away the heat means ducts. And ducts take space. And a slim bike can't use up space that is not essential to performance.
Ducati imho, chose packaging before comfort.
Pity they couldn't figure it out.
And now we roast the coconuts .

I'm no expert but I don't think the V4, or any panigale was designed for comfort. Or putting around at 25 mph and sitting at red lights. It's a race bike. Use it for it's purpose and wear the gear... problem solved. I wouldn't want to take mine on a cross country trip. I'd pry get something that was made for that. Same reason you wouldn't take a road king to the track and then moan about it because you came in last.

Saying the heat is caused by performance is a poor excuse.

Try the RSV4. 205hp v4 and no heat, not even in 100+ weather !

Shame that Ducati can't do the same...
