Yeah, fuel economy is not a Duc superbike strongpoint (which is not surprising). I was getting about 100 miles/tank (160km/tank) when the reserve light came on from my 1198, on a good day. It was an inconvenience, nothing more. It was however, encouraging to see the tank is bigger and not plastic on the 1199.

You sure it's bigger? Pretty sure my 1198S had a 17L (12+5R) tank. Think the 1198SP is 22L & aluminum.

Also, if I'm not mistaken the 1198/S had steel tanks. The 1198SP & 1199 have aluminium tanks.

Cheers

Yeah, at least compared to my 09 1198, that had a plastic tank for sure. I had it replaced under warranty, unfortunately with another plastic one. The plastic had a 4.1 gallon capacity, versus 4.8 for the aluminum 1198SP piece. Although

I was never able to put in even 4 gallons in my plastic tank, even when riding it 20 miles after the warning light came on.

I am getting 160 to 175 K's before the light comes on while running in. And yes it will do 35 to 50 K's on reserve, I found this out yesterday.

Wish I'd read this thread earlier. Guess I'm the second one to run out of fuel...

Light on after 112 miles from full, ran out after 27.4miles on fuel trip, normal riding. Had to push it a mile to the garage, at least the bike is light!

From empty I managed to get 16.15l in, not sure where Ducati get their 17l from. Also when the fuel light comes on I can get around 12.5l in which means the reserve is nearer 3.5l not the 5l claimed by Ducati - I reckoned I had a good 10 miles in hand.

I don't care to push any motorcycle any distance longer than my driveway, which is pretty short. Sucks to be walking a bike down the road instead of riding it. I'm happy to hear that I'll be planning to go no more than 20 miles after the light comes on to be safe.

Did around 1500kms over the Christmas break and found a trend on the fuel consumption...

Mountain roads mixed with some fast straights and one tank of Premium Unleaded gets you 230km.
I then found a bit more confidence, rode a lot harder/faster and ran out at 216km.

Here's a tip - the fuel pump has the last coughs going up the hill. Push it to the top or get the bike level and the fuel pump finds a few more drops to get you another few hundred meters.

Every fuel stop after that, I kept the bike as upright as possible during refuelling and dribbled every last drop possible into the tank. Sitting on the bike while refuelling is frowned upon, but I'll be doing it from now on.

The distance on 'reserve' on the Panigale is a joke! On several occasions the trip counter restarted after about 5 to 10 kms had been travelled, so reserve is now a bit confusing.

In the end, it's a case of reset trip distance counter when refuelling and use less throttle when the counter reaches 200.

It's a pity Ducati couldn't do a better 'on-dash' fuel gauge rather than a warning light. A 'fuel used' option based on injected fuel, would have been nice.

I reckon I'd be lucky to get 200+km from a tank under consistent high speed running, probably another 20km with more conservative riding. Haven't really paid too much attention. The fuel light came on after only 155km the other day but I had been running it hard.

For me around 120-130km on a tank before the light comes on. Hard street riding on 195lo. 195hi drops it by about 5km. New map dropped everything by 10km but I wouldn't care if it dropped it by 50 - it's that good.

full termi,195HI,30%city/70%highway/170km tops till the last drop, the pump could sucked.had to push my bike somewhere and go get gas.

Base 1199, I can't get mine to go past about 90 miles before a refueling. But I do ride mine like a complete tool! Nothing stupid No wheelies, no burn outs, but I can't seem to stop laughing in my lid when I pull the trigger on this rocket. I think the intake pulses right under my chin make me slghtly drunk so I can't help myself!!!

195lo riding on back roads about 95-100 miles til the reserve light comes on and stays on( it flickers on/off when approaching reserve.)

I've tracked my consumption since day 1. See here:

I'd be looking for a gas station ~100 miles.

Tend to run on Sport 195Lo.

Mildly aggressive street riding, no town or city. 22-30mpg depending on how much I see the shift lights. 10.7-7.8 L/100km for the metrically inclined.

So about the same as my Z06 vette..... Go figure !? All those ponies have to come from somewhere.

Not really a problem though, just drink a cup of coffee at each gas stop, you will both be ready for another stop by 100 miles.
