How hot is TOO HOT?

I know there are some guys here from UAE, Dubai, etc. However, I am curious what most here feel is too hot to ride based on fun factor, comfort, inherent additional Pani heat (what heat?).

I will ride in just about any temp, but I found myself making excuses last Sunday when it was in the 90's here. I'm more apt to sport a full face helmet, leather gloves, Dainese leather jacket, jeans and boots, so this adds to the heat factor obviously. I'm starting to notice at about 85 degress Fahrenheit and up lately I'm not going out. I'm not one to rock out the shorts, tank top and running shoes, which certainly makes it less hot when its hot.

Anyone care to share where their heat factor outweighs their fun factor, if at all?

Thanks

105+ here in the summer...As long as your moving then its not unbearable...Is it miserable sometimes?? Yes it is... I cannot say I enjoy it when its 100+ ... But I still ride.. and hydrate... A

I guess it comes down to if you're out carving corners or not. Riding around town in the heat will be brutal, and definitely will outweigh the fun factor.

Hydrate, what's that?;) I always struggle with this when out riding. Any camelbak or similar users here when out riding btw?

I don't quite think of it in those terms. For me, it's just a matter of "I'm riding. What do I need to do to make it as fun as possible?"

I'm sure there is a limit in terms of safety (heat stroke is a serious condition). But I just don't think of riding in terms of whether it's too hot or not. I will admit that the past few weeks it's been upper 80's here with really high humidity and I've been glad that I decided this year to invest in some mesh-type riding gear.

I remember about 10 years back when WERA went to Memphis Raceway Park for Labor Day and the official temp that day was 101F. It was a brutal weekend at the most gawdawful track east of the Mississippi. But I survived (and had fun). When ever I start thinking about it being too hot, I just think of that weekend and realize that no, corner carving in the mtns at 90f isn't too hot. ;)

i think it's really about the clothing. i made the mistake of riding in jeans only the other day it was near 100 and even with the new heat shields, i almost got burned.

I live in Menifee Ca and it will get up to 120. Hell, it was 104 two days ago. Even on the highway going about 80mph, my thighs roast. I found that if you sit with your butt all of the way towards the back of the seat, you burn less. It you ride with your nuts close to the tank, you are going to grille your ... and thighs.

It was only 85 here in Denver last Friday...got stuck in traffic and my bike showed 241F. I really didn't think it would get that hot...the good thing is that it seemed to stop there and did not get higher. I wonder if the ambient temp at 105 would have increased the engine temp as well.

I was very careful rolling away from stop and gave a little extra throttle because I was pretty sure it would not have started if I stalled it at that temp.

Wow...that's too hot man..... Mine never sees more than 219F.. regardless of temp....

I agree....I knew I hadn't seen a temp reported that high on here before but I'm at a loss as to why mine would get that hot in 85F weather.

Is the R setup differently with the fan coming on later?

Yeah....and I'm hoping to move back to Dallas this summer so I can only imagine if the temp stays that high on my bike that I would need to give up riding for a couple of months.

Gear makes all the difference. Just got a dianese mesh summer jacket with armor and wear heat out shirt. I'll still ride in 100 F degree weather. Hydration is key. I'm more worried about pani overheating.

If you do and you wanna ride.... I know a good group...:D

Was reading 115 on the freeway heading home but dropped to 109 at my drive way. I'm wearing full face helmet, mesh jacket and mesh pants and motorcycle boots. Not too bad as long as you're moving. Heat from the bike is inline with past Ducatis and MVs (actually, it's better).

Radiator temp hit 221 but that's with about 7 minutes of side streets and housing community driving plus a minute of idling to get this shot.

I will ride in just about any heat, and in Houston that means lots of days in the 95 and up range for about five months (and God awful humidity). Yes, it's very uncomfortable, but I love to ride. Admittedly, most of my longer day riders are not on the Ducati, but I'm still riding it every Sunday morning. Even though I get home by 10:30 or so in the morning (I leave at 7:00) its still around 90 degrees when I get home. But every week I can't wait to get on the bike again.

Dayumm, 109.
