how many of you are using back protector while riding on street

I always wear full gear everywhere. I have lighter/heavier armor and textiles/leather for various situations. I must confess that the gear does cost more than my usual attire, but it makes me feel comfortable and gives me the confidence I need to ride at my best (which is very average).

A common scenario would be taking or accepting a low side and getting back up with predictable and minimal damage. Now, if you are only wearing jeans and gym shoes, you will try to save yourself from the crash which may lead to a "save" or "high side" result--flip a coin!

Nothing more exciting than saving from a high side, but a chest protector would be good as the fuel tank can do a number on ones sternum.

yes, gear is expensive, but a lot of times ducati dealers will give you incentives with store credit when you buy a bike. Last time I saw one it was ~$1500, which will easily get you all the needed protection...

I bought a lot of my gear on motorama.it even with shipping my Dainese suit cost me $700 which at the time was $800 less than anyone in US was selling one.

I really have a hard time not saying anything when somebody rolls up beside be on bike with tee shirts and worst case sandals. I am getting better at it though and will only say something if they plan to ride with me .

my last highsider at Tally banged up my lower back pretty bad, it still hurts 2 months later. dainese wave.

looking for an upgrade.

also, hadn't i worn my Airbag-vest, my helmet would not only have cracked, it would probably have split open and (i don't want to go there).

bottom line:

3 grand for proper gear are better than 3 grand in hospital bills, 3 grand for a wheel chair or 6 grand for a funeral.

Those comments about "I'd have the gear if I could afford it.." make me shake my head. Obviously everyone may not be in the financial situation to purchase all Dainese or whatever top-notch gear that they desire. But that being said, if you can afford a motorcycle, you can afford to outfit yourself with proper helmet (is that one even a question??), proper armoured pants/jacket/suit, proper gloves, proper boots and a back protector. I consider those to be minimum.

Do I have a pictures from when I was younger squidding-out with a tank top and flip-flops on? Yes. Did I get lucky and happen to low side on a track with full gear and promise myself that I'd never be that stupid again? Yes.

I usually keep my comments to myself when I see people having blatant disregard for their own safety, as their response usually leads me into wanting to impose my opinion on them. We are all big boys/girls and can make our own choices; I just happen to know that some choices people make aren't the best ones. It's actually quite selfish to not protect yourself properly. Think of the financial implications that can be mitigated, as mentioned above.

Fun fact: I have a full sleeve tattoo that is a bio-mechanical-ish mashup of bike parts. I had one little space to fill up on my wrist and I had "ATGATT" added there... Now I know that ink and things like that aren't everyone's cup of tea, but it's especially fun when you are at a stop where a bunch of other bikers are and they're asking what that stands for and they're wearing that new Affliction super-protective t-shirt and those Kevlar True Religion jeans [emoji2]

as i geared up with bp full leathers etc i caught myself in the mirror in said gear and thought: what the ... am i doing? this 'recreational' activity is that dangerous i need to look like i'm in space suit meets medieval armor just to be somewhat safe (serious accidents notwithstanding)... and in 90deg+ weather dripping with sweat with an engine between my legs radiating heat to like 200degs+...

perspective is a bitch..

Always in full gear. I have a dainese wave thats 13 years old. It does need an upgrade and I want to go for one of the huge knox ones. However I need to become less fat to get one of those into my suit! Im not spending around £1000 on a new suit when the current one is fine!

Proper gear might be expensive, but think about the costs of not having gear.

yeah & think bout ur ObummerCare deductible eclipsing the most xpensive gear out there and only increasing along wit premiums. .. .

debt-slavez squeezed... $o b a good debt-slave & buy the best gear, even if u cant afford it & ur patriotic by stimulating a dead economy and letting banks rape u sum more...
