Just curious how the "R" is for an all around bike. Or is it really only good for the track?

R owners only....you mean both of them???
As a former 1098S owner I am amazed how well the R behaves on the street and in town.....no it's not just a track bike;)
I never used my Ducatis as a commuter bike since I have a problem with other people's driving skills in populated areas.
I put 140 miles on mine after I received it this weekend and still have a smile imprinted on my face:D

I put > 70K on my last bike. Plan to shoot for more on my R. Street, track, commute...let's enjoy our bikes.

(In the shop finishing the mods currently.)

I commute to work on the "R". No problems coping with highways and slow traffic. I'm not saying its an ideal commuter, but it handles the job without issues. It puts a big smile on my face going to work and coming home - that feeling is priceless.

track only for me... streetriding is for the Multi.. it it masterfull at that..

I plan to commute from Berkeley to San Jose on my 1199 R; usually over the bridge and down 280, but up on 35 when I have time, or maybe just get lost in the Santa Cruz mountains if I'm having so much fun I forget why I left the house.

I ride my R every day to work as long as the weather or occasion permits it. My commute involves slow traffic and lane splitting. The R handles traffic well. I've had the MTS1200S and a Diavel and the R (as well as the S) never made me feel out of place.

I've only done it once ...not the bikes fault but not sure the risk with all the crazy people in a hurry to get to work is worth me doing it a lot.

You should go home for lunch ;)

I do go home for lunch 3 or 4 times a week since i too am about 7 miles away but it sorta a hassle when im on the bike. On a reaaly nice day the long way home could be 20 miles. To be honest im thinking about a commuter bike.
