How to hang your Helmet.. SNUG and Tight...

I was in Daytona this weekend for Bike Week, and wanted to figure out a way to hang my helmet on the bike, without causing any damage or scratches and putting this brand new helmet on the foot peg or under the seat cowl were all a NO NO.

so i finally came up with a fix. I went to honda and got the $7.00 helmet cable
OEM 77236-KAZ-780, i use to have one with my 1000RR.. so here is what I did

Wrap it around the helmet chin straps like normal, clip it on the hook. inside the seat cowl

Bring the cable down the side of the seat...slide the seat cowl on...BE SURE TO HEAR THE COWL CLICK... once it clicks its in there...

Helmet is snug and will NOT move. Ive already had two of my Ducati brothers go get the cable... ... just spreading the love enjoy...

^that's a nice helmet. if i just didn't get one myself and saw your helmet hanging there unattended and "unsecured".....

its secured like every other helmet is secure to any other bike. via the seat cowl and locked... cant be afraid of getting the helmet stolen... im more worried about GETTING THE WHOLE BIKE STOLEN. Either way.. just giving people the idea of how to LOCK your helmet to the bike.

That rear cowl though, i want it.

Is it the factory one carbon wrapped or ? Looks awesome man.

Thanks I got it off here from the classifieds. It’s not a wrap.

understood, i was just giving you a hard time. i know there are times where it is impossible to take your helmet with you but you plan to be within sight of your bike....so i carry a long bike lock and set my old helmet on the ground so at least someone won't walk away with it.

i know during our rides when you stop to get gas and go inside the convenience store, in our neighborhood you can just hang your helmet but still i try to tuck it under the bike. this new helmet though is never going to leave my head or my hand. :)

I don’t think so., that’s a pretty thick hook from
A stabilization perspective.

Pretty cool idea! If you yank on the cable hard do you think that little hook would/could break?

probably not. that cable is meant to keep the helmet from walking away. if you want to go into the convenience store for 3 minutes while taking a break from riding. if you are standing around in a large bike ground and you don't want to hold the helmet in your hands or on your arm but you don't want to keep watching your helmet every 30 seconds. keeps the helmet from hitting to ground which is cringe worthy for most of us.

don't care what anyone says, the average thief will defeat this cable/lock and the better than average thief who spots the unfortunate rider who leaves his $1000 helmet while he goes into the shopping mall, 30 seconds....or less.

LOL!!!! i respect that opinion however, with that logic, why even own a motorcycle.. in those SAME 30 seconds your Duc can be literally picked up into a van or truck and GONE.

Not sure how trying to help fellow Ducati family members figure out a way to hang a helmet like every other bike has turned into something so crazy.

its already understood what the risk are when u lock your lid to any bike (Regardless of cost), that same logic goes to owning the Ferrari of bikes which draws even more attention all on its own with no helmet... Damn the HELMET... I'll TAKE the Ferrari.

I've seen them cut the strap ( which makes the helmet useless) thieves are stupid I wish we could shoot them on the spot .

had a bike stolen loaded it in a van in 30 seconds and gone .

I'd like to shoot that guy in the head

Agreed.

But for those that aren't comfy with locking it up, let them carry the helmet everywhere, no harm done to you or me or them :)
