How to make Panigale for suitable for street?

Hi All,

I am from Pune, India. I recently bought Ducati V2 white Rosso. I think I am the first white V2 owner in India.

I am planning to make this bike more suitable for street (Mostly I would ride it on highways on weekends).

I am 5.8 with boots.Should I consider lowering the suspension of this bike?

What other mods/settings should I do to make it more the street friendly.?
 
I would never lower the suspension on a bike.
This would sacrifice the geometry of its design for handling.

To make it rider friendly, not sure what that means, comfortable?
These are meant to go fast with little to no compromise for your comfort.
Put lots of seat time on her and you will adapt to her.
Squeeze your knees on the tank more to lesson the weight on your palms.

Take her off the highway and find some twisty road, do you have tracks you can do track days on with this baby?

Add gas and find winding roads

Seriously break it in and maintain it well once broken in get your suspension set up. Fyi lowering your suspension is a bad idea.
 
I'm 5'8" and 152 lbs and the V2 is very easy to ride on the street if you're comfortable handling the bike.
I wouldn't lower it or change the suspension/geometry. The seat + tank are narrow which makes it easy to touch flat foot.
 
You can soften the suspension but get an expert to do it. Too soft and you'll dive the front when you break hard. That's not good.
Physical fitness is going to be key if you're not used to such an aggressive riding position. You're going to get some chest muscles hitting the breaks. Staying in a correct riding position is fairly important otherwise your wrists and neck are going to get punished. If they do start hurting, try getting your chest down, neck more straight. You should be looking out the very top of your visor. Make sure your helmet has very high directional visibility. Takes some getting used to - building strength.

I've ridden a 959 for the last 3 years 80% road 20% track my average Sunday is more tan 300 miles through the twisties in the north east and find the bike fits me well. I'm an old beat up and stiff moto crosser in my late fifties. For me I think the bike fits me well for spirited rides I do not carry my wife on it and do not go to the grocery store on it either. Btw I have averaged 12,000 miles per year for each of the last three. Enjoy it and stay on top of your maintainece

One quick question, Do you guys struggle with V2 side stand?For me putting that side stand when wearing boot is very difficult. Also, I worry that I'll scrap the fairing near side stand area.

The key is to put your heel just in front of the shifter and the stand will be exactly under your foot. It's not something they tell you about but once you do it, it makes perfect sense and I haven't missed the kickstand since.

Either get good at that or you can replace it with a longer stainless steel bolt that you can accidentally hook you pant leg now and then.

This sounds like a great idea, will have to try this next time
 
I'm able to connect easily with the side stand when wearing my TXC boots that have a squared-off heel. My Dainese boots have a rounded heel and it takes 5 attempts to get my boot to connect with it.
I do like that the stand is out of the way and integrated into the bike profile.

Ride it in Wet Mode (May be called Street Mode on the V2) it should have reduced power output and linear throttle input to allow you time to get used to riding from the 390.
 
Congratulations Anurag! Owning a Ducati in India must be something special indeed! Do they charge import duty? How much does it add to the base price especially with the currency fluctuation?

To answer your questions

1) Do not hack up to lower the bike
2) Adjust the brake, clutch and other controls to position such that you hands and foot fit them comfortably (moving forward/down/up etc.)
This video by Dave Moss could be a good starting point.



3) The bike is really stable. Keep reminding yourself that as long as the bike is moving at least 2 or 3mph, you wont need to put your feet down
4) when you need to, just scoot to one side and balance with one foot. Bike is light enough for you to be able to balance it

im a road warrior and below will help making it more comfortable.

Ducati comfort seat
Pro grip 717
Throttle spacers
Tank grips
 
Dial in your suspension, that’s probably 90 percent of it. These bikes suck from the showroom floor.
 
Get some stretchy riding jeans so that you feel comfortable in the sportbike position. My daineses are the worst. I don't wear leathers because I dont have tank grips (stupid AMS sent me the wrong ones). Not sure I'd want to or need to wear leathers in India anyway. Also practice using the clutch or some rickshawwallah is going to rear end you when you stall in front of him...

Yes ,these bikes are costly in India. My V2 costed me 31,500 US Dollars (Direct conversion)
