If you have to put your bike away for winter what do you do to prepare it for storage?

Mine was cleaned, filled with 94 octane with fuel stabilizer. Chain Tightened and lubed, tires inflated to 45 psi and is resting on a paddock stand with a Noco battery tender.

What do you all do to prep your ride for hibernation.

its best to put the stabilizer in a jug with fuel and shake it before you put it in the tank. the grey marine stabilizer is better than the red. run the bike afterwards so the treated fuel is throughout the system. (with carbs, i drain the bowls) if you want, fogging the cylinders helps cut down on the corrosion with steel rings plus you can check out your plugs.

100% real/pure gasoline looses about one octane point per month. 'they say' ethanol fuels separate after a couple months. i avoid corn fuel but my cars are glass headlight old.

if you have mice, throw a dryer sheet or two in the tail pipe exit/intake tract. leave a note on your keys if needed

not a fan of battery tenders but i do charge then drive things 30-40 minutes once a month to cook the moisture out of the oil. there is usually at least one day without snow or salt to putter around.

I don’t have to winterise my bikes since I’m in Australia but I had to store mine for a couple months when I went away and the mechanic told me to stick some rags in the exhaust to limit air circulation..?

taping the in and out would be better.

if you use a heavy cover, i would tie a masons twine between those fragile rear views.
