All the negative i'm hearing about the RSV4 make me releived I didnt get one last Summer when my dealer was trying to hype it up. Because In terms of styling, im a 999 kinda guy (i've had 3)...took me a while for the 1098/1198 to grow on me.

So last yr it was between the RSV4 and 1198, well i'm glad I stayed true to my passion for the Ducs...JUST LIKE NOW, I'M DEFINATELY WAITING IT OUT (in aggony lol)

For all those who cancle, muchless get another liter bike will have a stomach ache everytime you see a 1199 on the road lol....that exhaust note and gorgeous tail lights gonna haunt you ;)

Would never consider Aprilia (or any Piaggio Group products) again. I have a 2010 RSV4-Factory that has been nothing but a nightmare and a dealer that is incompetent to say the least and a company (Aprilia) that have been one of the worse I have ever dealt with.

I can list all the problems if someone asks, but put it this way, that piece of sh#t is parked and will remain parked (till settlement) and I have the 1199 ordered and on the way.

I can sympathise with you totally :(

512B is always puking negative jargin about his RSV4. I have sold numerous Aprilia RSV4's Factory R's APRC's without any problems since 2010. Now Aprilia SXV's and RXV's pre 2007 is a whole different story LOL. I really enjoy riding the RSV4 and the electronics package on the APRC is pure genius. The bikes DO need to be PDI'ed and set up correctly by the dealer or yes some problems can and will occur.

P.s. calm down I am still awaiting my Panigale but I definately dont want to hear about a incredible superbike being bashed for no reason.

In his diffence I dont think its fare to say for no reason :)...he sounds passionate about his disgust with the bike.

Furthermore, he's not the only one whos expressed disappointment with the RSV4, but we do appreciate all the input and experience

On the other hand, selling/riding the bike is slightly different from owning one long term...yeah a lot of variables come into play

dealer set up, owners riding/maintenance habbits...the one bad apple in the bunch ya know...good feedback tho

shanes - i have owned 8 ducatis over the past 10 years (as well as many japanese super bikes including 4 fireblades from 04 - 10) so have a pretty good idea what to expect. I ordered and bought a 1200 MTS without a test ride and it is the best bike i have ever owned. all of the reports from YAS marina state that its a mind blowing machine. How about you ?

i was ordering one when i first heard about them , i had brought the 2011 848 EVO to ride while i was waiting , after reading how great they where and it was the biggest let down i have ever had with a bike out right .... box , i was not prepared to spend any more money on it to make it work so sold it after 450 km , needed a complete geometry and suspension change and you still ended up with that .... engine .
i am not going to do that again , i only ride on track so im not going buy one ,then throw most of it in the bin to make it work , like the rest of the ducat's .

i went and brought an ex factory honda wsbk spec with 200 HP at the rear wheel at east i know that will work for what i use it for .

i also have the KTM RC8R and Aprilia RSV4 Factory , they both make Ducati look silly when it comes to geometry and handling they are focused bikes that work without throwing another 10 k worth of suspension up grades on them .

i am not attached to any brand i buy what works and will wait and see how the 1199 does before i even think about getting one now .

My buddy just bought a white RC8R. He was considering a Panigale but he has no patience and started to itch to buy a new bike.

The RC8 came up for about $3k off retail and he pulled the trigger - never even sat on one before. I was there when it was delivered just 2 days ago - gorgeous bike for sure!

But in another month or so it won't be new and the 1199 will be here and he's gonna start pining for one, he'll end up selling the KaTooM  haha.

It's killin me right now but I'm waiting... I was invited to ride a trackday this weekend, first of the season - guess I'll ride the streetfighter - Damn! :D

08 R1
07 GSX 750R

...dont have much ride time on either, but which would you pick?? :)

Are all you impatient fuckers single, never married? Never had to wait around for the right thing to come your way?

Wow, something from this decade would have been nice :p

R1 or gixxer.

Then all things being equal on mileage/condition/colour, maybe slight nod to gixxer.

its just a month or 2 long joy ride...no big committment lol...since I gave up my 1198 and my 05 600RR been parked, I aint gonna turn down a loaner lol

I dunno if I remember how to ride a bike without the modern basic luxuries....TC, QS lol...

I'll probably just stunt it everyday !!! ;)

I agree that the RSV4 is a fantastic bike and i absolutely loved it especially with an AR GP2 can on it ;).
But when you had as many problems as me i got dissolusioned to say the least even more so with Aprilia them selves.
Would i have another too right i would, i think i just needed a cooling off period, im waiting to see what the outcome is of this late delivery saga with 1199 ??

"Saga" is an exaggeration, did Ducati feed dealers build-slot info and specific dates - hell no.

People should know better, since only being given a month should kinda set the expectation.

But no, we are all impatient little children, that want our new shinny toys now :p

I've pulled the old switch and upgrade. Any delay is now at least by my own hand, so I'll sit quietly for another 6-weeks

I don't mind waiting but i have no bike at the minute as ive sold the S1, it's like having an arm chopped off :(.
Whatever all the rumours are worse case scenario is i cant wait till we get well into may as i will have missed a lot of organised trips meets etc.
I am also going to Croatia beginning of June on the bike so can't wait that long as i have to get it run in and serviced etc.
If it is the end of April then all is good.

I feel ya on that, im without a bike too...tho i was offered a few antiques to ride for the next 2 months lol, I'd just have to buy insurance for the loaner

probaly pick it up today, may go with the GSXR 750

Yes, you are right, I do puke negative jargan about my RSV4, because as it turns out mine is a piece of S#it. To that end, would it be accurate to say that you pass rosy smelling gas about them! But to each their own and after all we are sharing experiences, opinions and thoughts here.

Also, the incredible superbike you are referring to, has turned out to be anything but an incredible superbike for me due to a multitude of issues (some could have definitely caused death!). If you consider that as bashing for no reason, again your right to think that.

Cheers.

Tough call. They are all so different, hard to replace one desire for the other. If the Panigale has been on the brain all winter then imo it has to be a Panigale.

I'm fortunate enough to afford more than one superbike so the decision is less of an issue for me. I've been riding motorcycles for 25 yrs and doing trackdays for 12 yrs.

I've lusted after a MVF4RR since the original revamped F4 750 in the early 2000s. Since the BMW superbike test mule was revealed, what 4-5 yrs ago, I lusted after that. The Panigale, while I have had a long love affair with Ducati's since the old 750 F1 - if anyone here even remembers that one - it is the newest model and I always wait one season before buying.

So for me, I bought the S1000RR 1st gen 2nd season model slightly discounted but brand new with a nice 3 yr warranty to be followed shortly, possibly this season, by a one of the Italian dreams. I put a deposit down on Ducati - base model - but given the delays, which I expected, I'm glad I bought the BMW. I can buy the MV right now but am holding off for two reasons (1) I need to see what the dealer backup etc is going to be in Canada and (2) I still haven't seen a Panigale in the flesh.

I've thought of buying the RSV4 for a number of reasons... I'm a huge Biaggi fan (yes I know) and I love Aprilia's. But I worry of the reliability and with no dealer nearby...

Now bizarrely enough, esp for the true I-see-only-red Ducatista I had a GSXR750 in the running. IMO if you are a true sportbike lover you must own a Ninja, GSXR750 and Ducati in your lifetime. I've yet to own a GSXR750 but I do need a dedicated track bike.
