I would be Gecko but the S doesnt have that bolt. But i am good to go on the other stuff. Thanks again your the greatest!

Okay... it'll be Ti for sure.
Today I received an offer for CNC production of 30 index screws in Ti Gr.5, hollowed, race spec. for 14 USD.
Tomorrow evening I'll meet a good colleague who's got a big CNC lathe. We will calculate the costs for raw material provided from his source....

leftcoast32: there are half a dozend of different pinch bolts already on the market :)
but I like your idea of making a unique design for pinch bolts, axle clamping and index screws. Also all pinch bolts I saw have no holes for safety wire. I will make some drawings....

The current pinch bolts on the market are not nearly as nice as the bolts you design!! I am in for as many as you want to make. I have not started on any of the hardware for my "R" yet so if you need an order of 20 or more (I need them all) count me in and just let me know what I owe you.

i'm in either option....and any of the other 'special' designs you might come up with if it helps get the numbers up

I'd also be interested in Ti front axle pinch bolts that were drilled for safety wire. I know Pro-bolt has "race-spec" bolts, but I've admittedly never looked to see if the bolt head flange diameter on those would interfere with the Ohlins fork bottom recess diameter

Hi Guys

Here's the story: Wanted to make modifications to existing screws, but the dealer failed.
So I tried to build the screws on my old lathe which didn't work because Ti is so reluctant for being threaded with HSS tools.
Then I tried get a friend of me to make them on his CNC lathe. But he has neither time nor the desire to help.

So I made production blueprints and ordered the screws from a company in Germany.
Production started this week and will be finished next. Then after shippment to Switerland, I will polish, clean and repack them for you.

As you wished they are going to be hollow Grade 5 Titanium race specs screws that can be locked with safety wire. Exclusive quality of course.

I ordered 15 sets (2 screws per set). Actually the price for me is now 11.- EUR per piece (plus VAT), which is very low. But I will give them to you for the bespoken 5.- USD per piece + Shipping fees (they should fit into a standard letter envelope): A late valentines present :)

Cheers

That's really generous of you, but I'd personally prefer to pay you at least the cost you incurred. So is that €11 +17% +shipping?

I agree, we should at least help you recover your costs. I appreciate what you do to help and want to make sure you are taken care of also. Thanks!

Hey Gecko, I agree with everyone else on the payment. I don't have any problem paying you enough so you can recoup your costs on the screws. You've done a lot of planning and hit a bunch of snags with this project. It's nice that you're willing to go through all of this just to get a few guys on this forum (probably most of which you don't know personally) some nice screws for their bikes. I appreciate all that you're doing for this project. I'm sure all of the others do as well.

AMEN... It's not like you are asking for an unrealistic fee, your plans changed, but we are still getting a great solution.

So, I want to assist in you recovering your fees. You have already done enough for us!

Hi Gecko.
Just checking in to see if there is any update on this little project?

kindest regards

I just mailed the manufacturer 3h ago...
The screws should be ready for shippment to Switzerland, but I'm still waiting :(
I'll keep you posted as soon as I know more!
I'm very sorry for the delay, but you'll get the screws, don't worry!

bearacer: polished Inox cone Hex screws okay? I would make them for you on both sides for a symmetrical look.

Claymore: Horn screw is ready, I'm very sorry that you didn't get the first one. I will send it to you together with the other packets of this project.

I was pretty busy during the last weeks and forgot some of your special wishes. Someone wanted the little screws on the handlebar controls to be made of INOX (throttle and left switch housing). Please shoot me a PM. I'm very sorry!

Gecko you are awesome Sir. Thank you again for widdling metal for all of us.

no apologies necessary...none whatsoever, and I certainly hope I didn't inadvertently offend.

thanks again for your work on this.

finally....

Gentlemen,

The smaller a project is, the longer it takes sometimes.
This morning the screws finally arrived :)

I'm now waiting for the customs invoice and keep you posted. In the meantime I prep the other screws requested from some of you guys....

Cheers

PS: the third picture shows the OEM vs. the new ones
