It's definitely love for the bike, but it's definitely confusion about Up-Maps.

I've only got about 200 miles of break-in but I'm planning my mods for the first service. I've got some Termi slip-ons but bought them used without an Up-Map (another story). I was going to buy the Ducati Slip-On Up-Map on eBay but then was thinking about doing a custom dyno-tune with a Bazzaz Z-Fi instead.

Now I'm getting caught up about this 41T sprocket mod and new Up-Map specifically for that upgrade. So the confusion is if I want to go with the 41T sprocket map, does this supercede the slip-on Up-Map, vice-versa, or do you need both?

This is my first Ducati and even though I've owned Euro bikes in the past (Triumphs and Aprilias), this seems so ass-backward to me.

TIA for your sage advice.

I could be wrong but the mapping updates from the dealer are ECU flashes. The Slip-On or full system Termi up-maps simply allow the bike to use a pre-configured mapping that's already on the ECU. The Up-Map key fob just unlocks it. When your dealer reflashes your ECU the pre-installed Termi mappings get updated as well. So to answer your question you'll need both. I tried running my 1199 w/Term slips without the Termi up-map and it ran like .....

The tricky part is knowing if you have the latest mappings from Ducati or not? To my knowledge there's no way to tell shot of asking the dealer.

Thanks a bunch rm4two, that helps a lot. What did you do get your Termi slip-ons running right without the Up-Map?
