I should say that every manufacturer are going to have some bikes roll off the assembly line with issues. And the majority of bikes are fine from anyone.

However...it seems to me at least (and I'm no expert, but I have seen other more qualified opinions on the matter that agree) that the s1000rr has some design flaws with the lubrication system that can cause premature wear inside the engine.

I still feel the s1000rr engine is more fragile than any other. I mean....they released it in 2010 and they start blowing engines. So then they implement a MANDATORY break in rev limiter. Can someone tell me why NONE of the other manufacturers produce and engine that requires a mandatory enforced rev limiter? I know our little instruction manuals give reccomendations....but they don't force you to.

I know when I had my s1000rr, when I would change the oil I would see huge ass pieces of metal on my oil drain plug magnet. Not the typical shavings I have seen from every other bike I have owned. But, huge pieces.

The S1000rr is a blast to ride, albeit a little boring compared to the pani, and overall it's a cool bike. If they would sort a few things like the headlights, the lubrication system, and the crappy gear box I would love to have another.

And as far as the Gen 4 kawi....they had a couple of recalls, but overall that engine seems to be pretty bulletproof. I have had zero issues with mine whatsoever. And no big ass metal shavings during oil changes!

And FWIW if anyone is looking for an awesome bike and by far the best bang for the buck the gen 4 zx10r is the ..... Far better all around bike than the beemer IMO. Not quite the character of the panigale, but a great machine.

Yeah, but what about the colour.
Kermit green is not an endearing colour.

BMW = ugly headlights, and a mixture of textures and surface finishes that looks like they couldn't make up their minds about it so decided to have an each way bet on every horse in the race.

Kawasaki = Kermit green:eek:
Great bike
If I had to have an I4 engine I would take a good hard look at the Kawasaki, but deep down the colour of the thing would drive me insane within 6 months.

No, give me a slim twin that has the looks and personality any day, and then deal with any reliability issues (if and when they actually arise).
Disclaimer: I also like Italian food, so i'm biased ;)

Hey my girlfriend is a ginger! :D I love my bike and almost everything about it makes me smile. But when ppl talk about passion, my bike is just a tool. The passion I find is in how I ride it.

You may as well be saying the canvas and paints should invoke passion in the artist. Not actually painting and seeing what he creates.

Your bike is just a tool because its not panigale. If you did you would know how stupid that sounds. And you got it wrong, the painting has been completed by a master already with the panigale you just have to enjoy it.

Yea thats cool, I hate the f*cking Headlights. The styling as a whole is butt ugly. Its a damn good bike, but when I spend my money one something I want to be prod to own it. If I was going for a track bike it would be a R6, for my street bike I need more then a great motor ... I need passion lol. If the s1000 was a human it would be a ginger .... because it has no soul :D.

I'm a ginger:(
Does that mean I've got no soul:confused:

Yes. Not long enough of a test ride to make any qualified comparisons to my s1ks or point out specific flaws / virtues. But enough that I didn't feel like I was on the right bike.

The Panigale and I didn't really get along for the first 200 or so miles. I first thought I'd made a mistake buying it. But after spending more time on it, my opinion quickly changed. I think if you spent a little more time on the 1199 you'd change your mind too. Not taking anything away from the S1K/HP4, but the 1199 is really something special.

No. Not ever.

Hitting a corner just right, letting the rear slip just enough to hook the turn, going straight when the next exit leads home, having to pull out my phone to Google wtf I am... That's the reason I ride.

Your passion is in the possession. My passion is in what my possession allows me to do

Oh please. The way you talk I bet you ride slow as hell.

That funny because that's what I think of you .

Here's an idea. Both of you should post some track videos so we can see the actual times you run at your local tracks. Then list the track times of the last amateur expert race and the lap records.

Let the forum readers decide who is "slow" and who is "fast" as it should be evident who is who. Not that it will make anyone more right, but it will surely be more interesting than a dick measuring contest.

Anybody who thinks that bmw is a design statement is obviously a man with zero design sense. I'm not denying that it's not a great bike, it's just a horrendous visual design statement. The designers at bmw should be ashamed. Especially for a company that makes one of the most beautiful automobiles.

AND design matters a Lot. It drives human evolution on a grand scale, it differentiates humans from apes.

I'm really surprised that bmw could not come up with a better front for that bike, instead they justify it with function over design ......... What a shame...

Most ducati owners buy a ducati because it's art on wheels, but the haters won't ever get that because I'm sorry but you don't have that design appreciation sense. You don't need art, you just need two wheels with some big motor, which is fine, but please don't come on a ducati forum and try to justify how beautiful that pirate look is.
