Just throwing it out there

Hey brother,
Unfortuantely the timeline for my arrival in CA has been pushed a little, and it's not looking more like anywhere from June to September, so sadly it's kind of looking like it's now becoming very complicated for me to buy this bike. Even if I was willing to buy it now and have it stored, the new timeline has made it very likely that I'll be able to get a better offer by waiting it out, rather than having a bike depreciating for months until my arrival - I think - thoughts???

Again let me just say that I really appreciate the helpfulness of you and other members on here. I will definitely reach out to you if this opportunity or a similar one presents itself again down the line, and if nothing else, upon arrival in LA.

No worries. 7 months is long time to have a bike sit there unridden. I'm sure you will have equal or better opportunities available to you as you get closer to your move. Let me know if I can be of any assistance in the interim.

Every time I do a search on 1299 S - 2016 or newer on cycletrader there are fewer and fewer results.
Do you think I should be worried about this, or will they surely start becoming available in higher quantities again as soon as the V4's start delivering?

And another question - any differences (besides very minor ones) from 2016's to 2017's?

i recently sold a bike to a out of state buyer and he paid for a dealer to do an inspection report was a very easy transaction,if you are serious i suggest you do the same.

Thanks for the info.
As mentioned above, the problem is now that my arrival to CA has been delayed quite a bit, and the main concern now is whether or not it'd be a viable option to just wait and get one when I arrive, but as mentioned even though prices are going lower and lower, a search for 2016 or newer 1299 S keeps yielding fewer and fewer results.

You may have to be a little patient depending on when you actually make the move here, but I'm confident you will find one.

The one I'm currently being offered is a 1299 S - December '16 - 1,400 miles - full Akra system - integrated tail light - clear clutch cover and a few more pieces that I'm forgetting I think for.
Price: $18,000. Might even be able to go a little lower I think.
Seems like a great deal to me.

With that information do you still think I will find an equal or better offer?

I don't know what the going rate is for comparable 1299's, but it is still very much a buyers' market here. The details may be slightly different, but you will find another 1299S. Maybe not at that exact moment, but you will find a nice one for sure. What if your moving schedule unexpectedly gets pushed back a little further? Would the $18K (or lower) be a good price in that case with the additional depreciation? If it were my decision to make, I would roll the dice and wait until you get here. A great deal unused for 6 months (or longer) may not feel the same when you get here.

Yeah you're right.
Aside from a maybe a few items it was almost set up exactly how I wanted it, and for a great price too.
I also really like the deal because I want the full Akra, but there is no chance I'll pay $4k plus installation for it lol. Figure it's gonna be tough to find another deal that suits me as well as this would have, but you're absolutely right. It could end up being pushed even further, or other factors could do that I might not even want that particular bike once I can actually get there.

Thanks for your help once again DT

they are only getting cheaper you will find a nice bike.

good luck

1400miles and with a full system sounds pretty good and people prepared to have a look at it for you is another plus. I’d buy it and be happy with the fact you own something outstanding and it’ll be waiting for you.

Thanks for ripping up the "old" wound.
I put it to bed and now you kind of have me thinking again.... lol

Easy for us to say what you should do

Haha. You're absolutely right.
I think I gotta stick with just binning it for now. Too much other stuff going on at the moment that I guess should have higher priority..... :(
