Keeping it down in 1st and 2nd gear.

RACE Mode, and change the DTC settings to 6, with Dunlop NTEC rear slick with cold pressure at 29 psi. Rev to 5500 RPM and let out the clutch. It's like launch control, if done right. (Stock front and rear sprockets). As soon as the wheel comes up off the ground (UPSHIFT)!

Have fun!

I've ran a few times on the drag strip. Turn your TC off, keep your weight forward, half throttle in first and full throttle in second. I want to set a record time this year, as the fastest is about a 10.18 and I did a 10.28 with a faulty secondary injector and tire pressure too low (spinning off the line slightly) I think I may be able to touch into the 9's this year.

I tried with DTC at first, but it cuts out too much even at setting 4. Only good way to get a good time is to turn it completely off and just practice giving it as much throttle in first and second as you can without bringing the front wheel up. Least with a stock bike this is an easy way to do it.

Thanks for the useful info. That's what I was looking for. What was your trap speed?

Really; this must be joke.
I don't have any issue keeping the front wheel on the ground when I want it there; just DON'T TWIST THE THROTTLE AS QUICKLY! Basic throttle control.
I have had the front wheel hover a few inches off the ground when passing a car and shifting into third, but nothing of great height and nothing a dab on the back break can't fix.

I don't know how you guys ride in Arkansas but here in Florida we ride HARD, balls to the wall baby. We really lay in it, no pussy half throttle .... here.

idk what my speed was. If I was to guess it was 143 mph.

Thats really great Eddie but if you explained what your trying to achieve here with keeping the front wheel down maybe we can help you a little better .
Are you drag racing ?

Yes, I'm trying to drag race the bike. I would really like to see this bike in the 9's, whether it be me or anyone else with a 1199. My apologies if I was misleading at all, I'm trying to write during work. I was recently at a bike meet which I was the only 1199 there, and I encountered a few clowns that talked up a storm about how this bike sucks and it's not fast, blah blah blah. Subsequently, I had to put a couple of them in their place. So my whole reason for trying to figure this out is because I know I will be at the track in the near future and I want to get a good time out of this bike to shut up all the haters.

Try short shifting then through first and second .

Hey Eddie I was a Motorcycle Drag Racer, way back in the day, And the tips I can pass on to you are.
1. Finesse Finesse Finesse

2.Most guys tend to lift there feet to the pegs to fast after launch try to slide forward rotating your hips so your belly is pushed into the tank.

3. With smaller bikes you can drop the clutch (ie... no Finesse)at much higher RPM but with more powerful bikes like the 1199 that is where the Finesse part comes in by holding the throttle at around 5000-6000 RPM. start in the low RPM range like 3000RPM and practice as you feel comfortable increase by 500RPM.

4. The 1199 is as close to 50/50 on the weight each wheel has on it explicitly for cornering and on a drag bike they extend the swing arm, replace the shock with struts and install wheelie bars so they can drop the clutch at a much higher RPM range.

5. I could go on and on about how but it really comes down to Finesse and that takes time and practice.

*Note most Drag Racers laugh at Moto GP racers when they launch*
Hope this helps Ride safe.

Uhhh, like this wasn't being a smart ass on your part.... I don't know how you guys ride in Arkansas but here in Florida we ride HARD, balls to the wall baby. We really lay in it, no pussy half throttle .... here

Of coarse it was. Keep in mind that it was a defensive comment based on what "styler," commented though "

Am I the only one that took that as a smart comment? Either way I found it offensive, you dont know me so dont be smart with me. I'm not here to play little games and see who has smarter comments. I am only here to give to the community and receive valid honest answers in return, thats all.

I know my character and I NEVER insult anyone first, I will ALWAYS defend myself though.

Wouldn't it make more sense to find a track and compare lap times? I don't know who is talking trash with you but if they have a bike designed to drag race (Yamaha VMAX) you are already racing on their turf if you drag race.

I agree, but nobody wants to go against this bike on a track. I'm just trying to prove thats its insanely fast in a straight line as well. Also I am only comparing my bike to any other bike that has comparable mods. I.E. full exhaust, nothing else.

I can relate - we are alike in some ways. I have also owned seven Corvettes, my last a 2009 Z06. :D

Eddie - I made a ribbing comment as well. If you had said early on you were trying to get the best possible quarter mile whilst keeping the wheel down, none of those comments would have appeared (not excusing them completely). In general, for a high end bike like the Panigali, not understanding why it wheelies, is akin to how to just start a lessor bike. :D

I wonder how long before someone decides to put in a swingarm extention on the 1199 ><
