This is great! I agree the more the merrier.... COME ON BMW!

forget BMW - the management is pulling out BIG time ... see WSBK. the philosophy at BMW Motorrad is that motorsports is not the future market and any involvement is money wasted.
they fancy alternative transportation concepts and scooters

I know... sucks, as it would make it so much more fun to see them in it with Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki & then BMW & Kawa.... oh well.

Here's the bike.

That was the 2005 Moto GP effort with Shakey Byrne as the rider on Kenny Roberts team. It folded halfway through the season amidsts a ton of internal team struggle with KTM and Proton if I remember right.

Wondered about that as soon as I saw the Proton livery. Besides, Pierer has said the new bike would definitely have a cromo trellis frame, in no doubt the orangest color imaginable.

Still, the old one's worth another look. A shot of the Inmotec V4 hanging below the naked chassis...

whats amazing is that a 2005 motogp machine looks more technologically advanced under the skirt than current streetbikes. I love looking under the fairings.

what is the red fork/shock thing attached to the forks?

Suspension travel sensor for telemetry;there will be one on the shock too. Gotta feed the engineers, and they eat Data!

Forgot to add, they are also necessary for any sort of active suspension control. Not the case on that bike, but for streetbikes, yes.
