Laguna Seca and noise levels

How did it come to this?

This is California remember and they are extra special there. If the track would shut down, there would be a lot of happy people.

Not all tracks here especially the ones that are more rural, but I fear it is coming as more housing goes up near them.

Same thing happened at my airport. Airport had been there for years, then people built houses an started complaing about the noise! So we had to climb out really fadt and make short apporaches to lower the levels.

A couple of factors since everyone seems to jump on this -

A) the racetrack wasn't there first. It came LATER.
B) Exhausts weren't as loud in the past as they were now.
C) They do allow unrestricted exhausts a few times a year (namely sanctioned races)

So yes, its allowed for certain times of the year (MotoGP/AMA @ Laguna), and california likes to intrude into peoples live a bit more than others.

But do you really want the alternative and to shut the race track down ?

The track was built in 1957 around a dried up lake bed. It was a barren piece of land. Urban sprawl brought noise to the forefront, not the other way around.

There is almost no urban sprawl around Laguna. Whatever was there many years ago are still there. Yes those guys around there are difficult but I don't see new sprawl there from anything remotely recent.

Wow that's harsh. Mind you if I lived on the doorstep of that (watched the youtube vid on the site, if its genuine) I would be pissed I guess. Our local track has no houses nearby.

I was moving close to Laguna Seca and used Search function for noise level...this makes me sad because I was about to sign up for this year track days there.
