Hello Everyone,

just wanted to share my experience with Levers.

I decided to substitute stock levers with the rizoma racing...
I felt something was wrong...but at the beginning I thought it was just me not used to short levers...WRONG.

Today I picked up my baby with the Ducati Performance folding levers and it feels like heaven! ....

What I can say:
1-the DP levers are way more rock solid, while the rizoma were wiggling up and down
2-the brakes bite far better (to be honest I also bled the brakes concurrently), they engage earlier and the ramp up is quicker than before
3-the feeling is just amazing, you can really feel the fingers wrapped around something that is just designed for that purpose...

hope it helps! I criticised many times other DP accessories (e.g. carbon covers), but this time the work done by Ducati is just mind :eek: blowing

I must admit they do look sweet. And as they are genuine DP Caliduc will approve.:p

DP - resistance is futile :p

FWIW, I'm gonna finally go with DP rear sets soon .... just made them 100Euro more expensive buying Rizoma first :rolleyes:

I find the std set up comfortable just with the LSL peg replacement. love the look of the DP but very expensive here in australia for us.

I think I may put that $1000 towards the Akrapovic system (I wish)
 
I've noticed most of the high quality aftermarket levers all seem to have a bit more play in them than the factory brembo levers.

I just installed the DP levers and love them. There is no lever on the market that is as good quality wise, that being said, its also the most expensive but worth it.
I also bit the bullet on the DP rearsets. also IMO the best rearsets on the market. Overpriced, perhaps but these things are SICK.

I just ordered some Lightechs because of this. I have Performance Technologies EVO III, but the clutch lever has way too much play for me. Hoping Lightech cleaned up the slop and they're magnesium as well.
 
The lightech levers are pretty good. I'm not sure why they even bothered with Magnesium as its marginal weight difference and I'm not sure what the "reason" for them are. I think they sell so few of them that they are actually cheaper than the regular aluminum ones. . . I've never used the lightech as standard OEM replacements but the ones for Brembo aftermarket MC's. I believe they are one of the few that make levers for the Brembo aftermarket MC's outside of Brembo.

The Ducati folding levers are excellent quality. I have them on my current bike (at least until I change the entire kit/kaboodle out). Although I question that they "bite" more or are any different than other levers. Thats kind of exaggerating it a bit much. There might be less "slop" because of how things are adjusted, but most good levers can be adjusted to remove any sort of play that they have (to an extent). The pivot point on the OEM levers and aftermarket levers are the same as well. So what brake performance doesn't really change in that regard. Now, if you have replaced the MC - then perhaps "bite" and feeling are affected much more. But changing out the MC on the 1199 is not a trivial task due to the mated calipers.

Yeah, the magnesium is just a meh, cool kind of thing. I don't even think they come in aluminum for the 1199.

Anthem, I couldn't adjust the play out of my EVO3, the clutch lever doesn't seem to rest properly.

Be really carefully when trying to adjust the slop/play out of the levers . They are meant to have some play for heat expansion of the fluid. I tried to warn a buddy of mine who did his lever install and he didn't listen because he didnt like the slop and while we were going through some heavy twisties and hard braking, his front brakes locked up and you could imagine what happened next. I couldn't even roll his bike off the road I had to drag it sideways. By the time the tow truck arrived the fluid had cooled down and we were able to roll it forward again. When he took it to the shop the first thing the mechanic asked him was "did you leave some slop when you installed the levers." then he said "this happens all the time"
 
I have the DP too and really like them now. Nice write up. After I switched them out the brake felt really squishy, no grab. When braking the lever touched my knuckles on the throttle. So, had the brakes/clutch bled and it made a world of difference. These stock brakes are phenomenal. Not sure what the deal was, but heard it might be a Ducati-thing.

You wil sooooo regret not going with Lightechs- like stepping on a crack, walking under a ladder, you will be sorry someday :D
 
in all of these examples the master cylinders are the same, only the levers being different. i have the DP ones too, but beyond the adjustability they're not all THAT much different than stock!

Yah, I just find everything else looks so aftermarket.

The Rizoma are too shiny, the LSL to matt, too long, too short.

DP just look so right:)
